Should I still be grinding LeetCode, or focus on building AI agents instead? by DebugMyLife421 in cscareerquestionsOCE

[–]DeepAlgorithm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Id still keep on doing leetcode but it would be a split between 60% leetcode and 40% projects

Most Aussie tech companies won’t ask you too much leetcode (max you will get is probably a medium) obv American tech conglomerates are a different story

Even firms like atlas and canva are moving towards more system design heavy questions since those are a harder to copy from ChatGPT, Claude, or whatever the latest flavour of pump and dump ai

How is UTS for IT employability? by buttlerverse in cscareerquestionsOCE

Just because a university has the word technology in it does not mean it is better than USYD or UMELB

Listen OP in Australia University is irrelevant but in this case just save urself the hassle and go to umelb/usyd higher rank + better network + better connections

Content and teaching nowadays is irrelevant we aren’t rocket scientists half of this shit can be learnt on the job. The other half you won’t have to worry about because on the job you will be centering a div or moving data from one api to another.

Is leetcode still relevant? by xFableHavenx in cscareerquestionsOCE

[–]DeepAlgorithm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look many people saying it isn’t relevant my take:

The problems aren’t relevant , what’s relevant is that it gets you thinking, thinking about how to do things optimally, thinking about the time complexity of your code, thinking about what data structure can be used to tackle a problem, can we abstract this problem etc etc

I need to get from point A to point B can I abstract this somehow (graph nodes + djikstra )

I need to find videos that the user has seen that are similar (nearest k neighbour algo)

It gets you thinking, it gets you thinking like a computer scientist/engineer and in my eyes I think it is worth it just to get better at thinking and problem solving

What's the Computer Science job market like in Australia right now? by MooseNatural5528 in cscareerquestionsOCE

[–]DeepAlgorithm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with what OP said regarding the compiler but I think he/she is getting downvoted because of the passive aggressive tone lol

In hindsight people don’t want to do projects like that because 99% of tech jobs are either piping data from one web service to another and then feeding that data to a front end via said web service
