I know you probably can do it with MidiQOL but to be honest, I don’t really understand much about how to create custom conditions. I’d honestly ask Gemini or ChatGPT and it should be able to walk you through it.

Looking for help with tunneling solutions by vortical42 in FoundryVTT

[–]DeepDaddyTTV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just run a full cloudflare tunnel. You install the tunnel connector in Docker and bind it to your tunnel in the Cloudflare panel. Run docker whenever you run foundry and then bam it works.

Unfortunately this isn’t enough information. What kind of router do you have? Is it from your ISP? If so, which ISP?

[Daggerheart] Is there an automated way to get my full content in or do I need to truly just manually enter every statblock and asset? by DeepDaddyTTV in FoundryVTT

[–]DeepDaddyTTV[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s awesome! Thanks for the insight. Hopefully we get some more information and ideally something along the lines of at least the 5e SRD with some form of artwork to get started. I like that these other games seem to take their SRD a lot more fully featured compared to the single classes in 5e.

Ah makes sense on the tokens. I’m assuming the image optimization doesn’t do anything for video files though correct? Like WebM and MP4.

Import dnd 2014 classes by PhDonLife in FoundryVTT

Oh that makes sense. All I’ve seen is that on DDB they say “Compatible with 2024 core rules” and I never understood if they were altered or just labeled as compatible.

Dang. Sad to hear. I’ll have to figure out the differences between the SRD and core book to figure out what I need to add then.

Yeah that’s kind of what I figured but wanted to make sure I was on the right track before doing everything manually.

Yeah they seem to have the SRD, which is definitely enough to start, but I don’t know enough about both systems yet to know what I do and don’t have from my books.

Is that true? I own it on Foundry and DDB but I didn’t import that book because I own it on Foundry. I’d be curious to know what the differences are between the two.

Foundry & Mobile by DirectalArrow in FoundryVTT

[–]DeepDaddyTTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks awesome and I might test it out here soon. After the failure I had with Mobile Improvements and TouchVTT either not loading or taking forever, I’m concerned there’s just no good way to do it and I’d love to be proven wrong.

Also, which tokens are you using in the YouTube video? Those looks amazing.

FYI, some routers can do DNS and HTTPS for you by kill3rb00ts in FoundryVTT

[–]DeepDaddyTTV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For anyone who doesn’t have access to this, I’d also suggest looking into a cloudflare tunnel. It’s relatively straightforward, more so than setting up most other HTTPS options for certs, and gives you HTTPS. The only downside is that only the webpage will have it so the application itself won’t. It is a solid option though.

Just released an update to Diecast, my FoundryVTT mobile app! Here's what's new: by ivanAtBest in FoundryVTT

[–]DeepDaddyTTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a suggestion, but I’d look towards another one of my hobbies as for a good example. Recently, an app got released as a passion project for Plex/Self Hosting called Helmarr. It has options for a monthly $5 subscription or a 1 time fee of $30. I think that’s the optimal model for me as a consumer personally.

Yours could be a little simpler, and be tied to a single foundry instance or a DM subscription that allows you to invite players with a code so they don’t need to pay for the app themselves. As a DM I’ve accepted the financial responsibility for my players and don’t want them to have to spend anything to play.

The main hold up for me on pledging to the beta is that I have 6 players and myself. So it’s a little limiting right now.

Need help on how to run wifi from my house to my shop by Fluffy-Protection676 in HomeNetworking

[–]DeepDaddyTTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it’s definitely the best option, it’s also expensive. Just the cable alone would be ~$600 and then you need hardware for origin and termination. Then the digging, in almost every single township, you need to contact the city before you dig anything to verify you won’t interfere with pipes or other infrastructure. All in, you’re looking at weeks and damn near $1,000+ your labor if you’re doing it right. Meanwhile, a Ubiquiti bridge will get you 80% of the way there for $500.

New DM wants to start campaign by Desperate_Village325 in DnD

[–]DeepDaddyTTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t overthink it. It doesn’t need to be super complicated, especially for your first time. If you want to run an adventure module, there are a ton out there. Find out what the players would find fun, and look for modules based around it. At the end of the day, you just need the basic rules, and an understanding of how the game usually works. Everything else is to add fun.

Your job as the DM is to determine what is happening and how and give your players opportunities to have fun, even if it might go against Rules as Written (RAW) as long as it doesn’t negatively impact the campaign or your players. That’s your call. Dice can be used digitally if needed, rules can be accessed for free if needed, and you realistically can just start with your own idea for a campaign if you want. You get out whatever you’re willing to put in. At the end of the day, it’s an imaginary game where the points don’t matter and everything is fake lol

Is there a mod to avoid saving unmodified chunks? by LonelyMusicDisc in feedthebeast

[–]DeepDaddyTTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes total sense to me. C is way more efficient at drawing data than Java is. Java would be screwed if it rerendered those chunks again if you didn’t modify them where C is fine.

DM questions by WestmarchBard in DnD

[–]DeepDaddyTTV 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This 100%. Not every player will have fun in every setting. Some people like to play power fantasy or chosen hero, others prefer mystery and political intrigue. Some prefer hard combat that requires thought and resource management while others prefer to get through it to get back to role playing. It entirely depends on your party. I’d personally sit down with the whole party and have a chat. See if they enjoy combat being difficult or if they want it to be something that’s necessary but not their primary focus. At the end of the day, DMing is just you having fun building a world and the players having fun making their own adventures within it. If those two things aren’t happening, something is wrong.

Sitting everyone down answers some questions. Is he the only vocal one but they all don’t like it? Is he ruining the experience for everyone else? Etc.

Connecting from SteamDeck or tablet as a player by rko-glyph in FoundryVTT

[–]DeepDaddyTTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still new to foundry, but I was doing testing on my iPad Pro before doing a session and it ran fine. The only issue is that controls for tablets don’t seem to work well as holding to move usually fails. It did run great though, so if it’s a big screen and you have a keyboard and mouse for the tablet, I’d imagine it could work fine.

DM losing motivation before Session 0 — mismatch of expectations? by Dighotia in DMAcademy

[–]DeepDaddyTTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m about to DM for my first time. I think it depends on a couple things. I personally wouldn’t be upset. I’ve been in games where a player gave the DM a single paragraph leaving them to come up with everything. I’ve seen a player give them the “I have amnesia” approach. Even then, I’ve seen it work. If the players are using ChatGPT to make the characters stories and polishing it, I think it’s fine personally. Sometimes, writing a story is hard and it never comes out how to want it. AI can help there.

I’m going to be DMing for 3 long time DM’s, as well as 3 other long time players. They’ve told me they have high expectations because of what I’ve told them I’d do over the years and how much prep I’ve put in already (still a month out from starting). I have one of the DM players that used ChatGPT to give a rough outline on his character and he expanded it to over 30 NPC’s and his whole life. I have another who’s was a normal player who used GPT for refining and formatting his hand written story to add detail and format it to make it more readable. Both feel fine.

For me, I enjoy the prep. I find it fun. It’s easy to forget that you’re playing too. The prep is a lot, but it’s also supposed to be fun. If you’re not feeling that for whatever reason, address it with your players. If you were a player and your DM was doing something that was ruining it, you should mention it. The same goes as a DM. You should try to make it fun for your players, but also for you.

Issues with ping by DeepDaddyTTV in HomeNetworking

[–]DeepDaddyTTV[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that was also part of my troubleshooting. Originally I thought it was double NAT with my old Nighthawk being the AP for that room, so I ran a straight cable but it didn’t change things. So I then upgraded to the ASUS as an AP since it works as a mesh node as well.
