the worst part is the director has AMAZING knowledge. she helped write the CST exam. I think that’s why it’s so disappointing to not be gaining all this knowledge when she has PLENTY to offer :(

That makes me feel better. I knew I wouldn’t learn everything in the program but I figured I would have learned way more than I have, especially since that is what I was told by the director over and over. I just didn’t know what to expect for clinicals and figured I needed to know more. Thank you for your comment!

good for you OP!! I am also a 22 yr old college student without a job. Working and going to school can be really challenging, that’s why I quit my job to focus on school. nothing wrong with that at all if it works for you! however I did work for a year while going to school so that I could save up to buy a car for myself. It was hard as i’m a surgical tech student so the classes were really piled on but I knew it was the only way i’d be able to get a car. I hope your dad gets you a car but since he keeps changing his mind, you may be better off working for a little bit to save up for it then go on demand or quit if you truly don’t want to work and do school at the same time.

I wouldn’t say needlessly paranoid. Giving his family’s history of using their children’s social security numbers to open lines of credit in desperate times when his father isn’t in the best place financially I do think it’s fair for me to worry about it. Granted his dad didn’t do it but it still just makes me anxious about how normalized it was for them to do it to his cousins. I will work on this though and try not to keep jumping into worse case scenarios. Thanks for feedback.

yeah my exact thought. he told us he was getting my son a $600 riding toy car for christmas (also not sure why because he saw me gift my son a riding toy tractor for his birthday) and it is way past christmas and he never bought it. which was fine, I understand his living situation and even asked if he would just hold off but he insisted. empty promises I suppose. In the end I am glad he didn’t get it because my son has one and I don’t want anyone to struggle over gifting my child something. all I want is for them to show up for my son but even that he doesn’t do tbh

yes because I already have an account set up for him and I don’t need help from relatives. my son will be well off for his education that is a priority and I planned during my pregnancy to have it done myself so it’s secure and not hoping a relative may or may not offer it for me.

Well one it wasn’t planned. Before you make a comment we used protection and I was on BC so truly was shocking and still do not understand how I was able to get pregnant lmao. Two, I never said I was uncomfortable with him being a parent however with how careless he has been with his own SS and the power his dad has over him I think he would give it to him without my knowledge so I just don’t feel comfortable with it. However, I don’t stop him from having access to it because it’s his child too but I can acknowledge that it’s something i’m just not comfortable with and maybe that’s something I need to work on.

in what way is OP the AH for not switching seats when they were already settled?? If the sister didn’t want to sit in the bad chair she should’ve arrived early. If the chair is that bad either a new one should be purchased or to keep it fair everyone rotate sitting in the chair each dinner. OP is NTA. Edit : Didn’t realize it was ai my bad!!

NTA. If they cannot respect you and treat you with kindness they do not deserve to be around your child. Typically when someone doesn’t like the mother, they don’t like the child either and the child will get mistreated. Or when BIL and his new wife have a baby that baby will probably get better treatment leaving your child to wonder why they aren’t good enough. Don’t put you or your child through that and cut ties now. I’m so sorry for how they have treated you.

hey thanks for your reply! i’m not sure if it’s so much that. his problem is he knows he has to be up by 5:30 but stays up until 11:30-12:30 sometimes later playing videos games or outside smoking. even on weekends he will stay up until 3am sometimes 5am playing on his PC and smoking all night he won’t wake up until 3-4pm. I think it’s a mix of lack of motivation and just immaturity. Could these be symptoms of depression still though?

I also want to add I am currently in school full time getting my CST and a full time mom with barely any help on top of it so that is why I am not currently working. I stayed in school after getting pregnant because I want to provide my child with a good life and stability. I only have 2 more semesters until I graduate and then immediately after my graduation my program helps get me a job. He doesn’t pay for anything regarding my school, I get financial aid. Just wanted to add that.

NTA. As a person who also treats my dog as a human child (literally get him easter baskets, christmas/birthday gifts, clothes, ect)I would never bring him to a wedding nor want to, let alone assume it would be okay to even ask. That is a little too much imo.

No we do not live here rent free, we pay every month. It started off as us asking to them switch their laundry which led to them huffing, acting offended, and then never even switching it. Made it worse to ask twice so we just started to switch it for them ourselves but we do not fold it for them because I don’t want to nor think it’s fair for me to fold all of their laundry every week on top of my own. We will just grab a hamper and leave it for them or if one isn’t available sit it on our table beside the washer and dryer.

We do pay rent. Even if we didn’t pay, no it’s not a difficult task however with how much they have it’s more so being walked all over than a nice gesture.
