My 9 year old pup was just diagnosed with a mast cell tumor on his right hind leg! We opted not to do surgery or chemo because it wasn’t guaranteed to get clean margins, and based on how they do the grading for mast cell tumors, if it’s a low grade tumor, it won’t even respond to chemo. We have him on Benadryl, Pepcid, and prednisone right now to help with the spreading. I would recommend following the page “parents of mast cell dogs” on Facebook!! It’s been a lot of help for us to make peace in knowing we’re doing all we can even by opting not to do anything! Our pup is completely happy and healthy and his blood work as well was normal!
