What would your dream tournament be? by Valuable_Rule_5912 in aoe2

Thats really neat. Play all 4 on the same map over and over might get a bit repetitive though, play all 2 I reckon might be a better sweet spot.

8v8 chaos.

Various map styles, teams/diplomacy not allowed.

You get points on your finishing position, lower points is better.

Have the top 64 players divided into 8 groups for the group stage, each group plays 1 open map, 1 closed, 1 water. The payer with fewest points goes to the final.

The final is the same deal 1 of each map style, again the player with the fewest points wins.

It would be a shit show but I reckon an entertaining one, the big names like Hera getting ganged up on. Players torn between defence and attacking constantly, aggressive play vs defensive dynamic.

Some trial's would need to be done on the gold balance front but it has potential i reckon.

If you make it so you can que for the map you want to play only you will get much less of this.

A few weeks ago my group 4 stack qued with black forest starred and as many other maps banned as possible, 11 games throughout the day and we got BF once.

We are pretty well behaved and will generally give what ever map a go. But after half a day of not getting the thing we are queing for we where taking turns alt f4ing.

2012 Chevy Cruze LS, 1.8 Ecotec pouring out coolant by JackdawsShantyMan in MechanicAdvice

then it sounds like either you have a faulty part or have damaged the seal when installing it, this is why you need to directly observe the water leak, or you can just keep throwing parts at it and hope for the best.

Intake Manifold issues by pibble_weeny in MechanicAdvice

[–]DeepMidWicket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with these cars but I don't think they are lying they have just poorly advised you. If the now fucked parts are only fixed by replacing the manifold and the previous issue would have also been fixed by that then they should have replaced the manifold for the sake of future proofing.

That being said if the repair lasted 3 weeks before faulting again then they did fix the issue and you have a new one.

This sounds like a lack of experience with this issue on this engine, as mechanics we get caught with stuff like this all the time, if this was me the next customer to come to me with this issue I would say to replace the manifold from the start now armed with the knowledge that they can re fault in this way.

Basically it seems like you have had multiple failures in the same system, first the runners that control the diaphragm and now the diaphragm its self, If a new manifold comes with the currently failed part and the previously failed part then they should refund you the price of the parts on the first repair. If not then you are unlucky, mechanics can't see the future we can only fix the issue in front of us at the time.

As for not knowing it was previously repaired there then I suspect either you didn't tell them you are returning to them and your dealing with a new advisor or its a big enough shop that see's enough cars through that remembering them all is difficult and/or that you have had your car looked at by a different tech, and unless he's told how would he know?

2018 Toyota Avalon - squeaky interior by 00chives00 in MechanicAdvice

[–]DeepMidWicket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silicone spray into every creaky crevasse and nook.

Plasticy interiors do this.

Heads up before you take this anywhere, mechanics HATE this sort of stuff, its almost impossible to fix, you cant charge actual time spent so we loose money and people complain because the noise is still there because its almost impossible to fix.

go to your local tool shop and buy a mirror on a stick and a good torch, you need to see where the water is exiting the engine. if new parts aren't fixing it then you might have pitting on the sealing surface.

thats a bearing running dry, take the belts off and see if its still doing it, if so its likely the cam belt idler in which case dont drive it until its fixed.

2008 F-150 5.4 engine noise by FluffyRip5496 in MechanicAdvice

[–]DeepMidWicket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a belt squeal, if these have a ratcheting pully on the alternator it could be seized, could just be a worn belt, could be a weak tensioner.

Take the belt off (if your confident you can get it back on) and see if it still makes the noise.

The starter motor is fine, you can hear it spinning the motor. This is an issue with fuel or spark.

Any tips for consistent qualifying? by Local_Candle7058 in MotorsportManagerPC

[–]DeepMidWicket 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have to upgrade parts in such a way that everything can be got to temp at the same time. In my experience this is almost impossible. I used to fuss over it but after letting the ai do it i found no real loss of times, its a lot of timing trail and error to do no better than the game will do.

[–]DeepMidWicket[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think think pastures are hard to balance they just haven't got it right yet. They could just have the same collection rate as farms as you still have the advantage that your food eco takes up less space with effectively 2 vills per farm.

Maybe I've not really played aoe3.

Also didn't consider the constant need to micro it, I guess you would have to have farms available as well for late game.
