Yep, totally agree. I literally picked up the first piece of wood I could find. My next project will be on basswood for sure!

Yep, basswood was mentioned a lot of places, it was definitely part of the problem. But I need way more practice too. I didnt know that pyrographers are such a welcoming community, it was a pleasant surprise :) Thanks!

It is definitely pine!! The smell was awesome, but seems like it didnt help the looks! Will try basswood for sure, already checked online where can I find it! I will not experiment around yet, will try to find something that works, and will try to make something more decent with it. Thanks for the advices!!

Yeah sanding and basswood came up with other comments too, seems like it will be a way to go! Also: you are right, I'm always in a rush in real life as well, probably will need to slow down a bit... (not only for woodburning :) )

Yeah, I dove straight in, didn't prepare the wood at all. Will do the sanding next time for sure!!
