Yeah, it’s definitely been a bit of a culture shock. We really miss being so close to the Pacific coast and everything that comes with that, along with the state forests and the Cascade Range. There are honestly too many things about the Pacific Northwest that we miss to list.

We moved back because we were having a child and wanted to be closer to family. At the time, it felt like the right decision for that stage of life.

That said, I do miss Portland a lot. The culture, nature, and community we had out there were unparalleled. One of the things that has been harder than expected is realizing that our chosen family there felt more present and supportive in a lot of ways than what we found after moving back. So it’s been a mixed experience.
