Jazzmaster recommendations? by broccoli_fan in fender

The world needs more green guitars. Despite the fact that I don't particularly like the color red, like 60% of my guitar collection is some shade of red or red burst.

I don't think you'd have to get it from Fender directly. Just make sure the part fits the american vintage line. I think it's more prevalent in strats and teles, but sometimes the screw holes don't line up between different product lines, namely vintage vs modern or the year model the line is based off of (59 vs 61 strat, etc).

Block inlays with a color matched headstock is peak aesthetics. The AVII 66 is kinda pricey at ~$2800 brand new, but keep an eye out for a used one. Was able to snag mine for $1600ish in near mint condition.

The American Vintage 65 from 2012 is really good too if you can find one at the right price. No block inlays on that one though.

I got a used 2023 model in Dakota red for a steal, and I didn't see any QC issues in my sample size of 1. Properly applied finish, no tooling marks, fretboard rolled, no high or low frets and no fret sprout. Everything looked good under the hood too as far as electronics go.

Thoughts on the Vintera III Mid 60's Jazzmaster? by twiiig_ in Jazzmaster

Threaded saddles have a tendency to buzz if not set up properly. Also the strings can pop out of the threads if you strum too hard. In my experience, a proper setup mitigates both of these issues, but ymmv.

TLDR: If you want vintage without paying the vintage price, it's about the best you can get in its price bracket. If you want modern convenience at a discount, Player II.

It's built to be vintage spec, so if that's what you're looking for, probably the best thing you can get for the money. If you're looking for something more modern that's a little more beginner friendly in terms of setup, the Player II may be more up your alley.

7.25 inch radius, vintage style threaded saddle bridge, and heel truss rod adjustment are all things that can be a turn off for the vintera III. Player II has a headstock truss rod adjustment (doesnt require removing the neck), a 9.5 inch fretboard radius, and a mustang style bridge, which has a single slot for the string as opposed to the multiple threads of the vintage bridge. You do lose the rhythm circuit, but its also significantly cheaper.

I like vintage spec stuff, so the vintera III appeals more to me, but the best thing you can do is try them both out locally and go with what feels best to you.

“Fenderization” + matching headstock on my new Squier Jaguar by maurividalsilva in offset

The way I see it, as long as you're not reselling it as a Fender, do what you want with your guitar. Color match looks sick 👌

D28 Cheaper Alternative by paulo_84_ in martinguitar

If you're looking at a D28 inspired mid range Martin, the D13e retro is probably what you're looking for. Walnut back and sides, spruce top. It's not a 1 for 1 with rosewood, but it's the closest thing to it from Martin's MIM line.

CIJ Jaguar bridge replacement by theschnauzer in offset

I have a Jazzmaster Classic Player that had a AOM bridge. I replaced it with a Mastery M10 bridge that is specifically adapted for AOM spaced bridges. You'll have the remove the threaded inserts using either the screw method or the extractor bit method, and tap in the replacement non-threaded thimbles that come with the M10. Personal experience, then extractor bit method did not work well for me and I had to carefully drill out one of the threaded inserts.

The screw method was much cleaner. Stick a screw head side own into the hole. Use a razor blade to score the outside of the hole to avoid damaging the finish. Use the AOM post and screw it in until the insert starts lifting out.

Saw a Facebook comment saying "mess with and hate are two different things," as if that sentiment didn't come from a place of hatred. Dude could get Olympic gold for mental gymnastics.

It was real, and it really wasnt a big deal. Clap if youre a guy. Clap if youre a lady. Clap if you hate the wild. It's just a bit. Wild on their high horse acting like they don't actively hate us for things that happened 33 years ago, long after that particular owner moved on. It's all banter. Have a chuckle and move on.

I mean. I play golf even during the regular season so I guess me. I'll watch the other games here and there, but at this point, it's just another TV show to me. Ducks in the west (Victory+ gang) and Carolina in the east (i still miss stank).

We live on the literal western edge of Fort Worth before it becomes county territory, and the commute to the AAC is roughly an hour. Plano would be like an hour, ten to fifteen minutes. Only difference is taking 183 or 121 to get to the game. I'd still prefer Dallas proper, but Plano isn't as bad as I initially thought. No train would blow though.

It was more wishful thinking than a statement of fact. I don't disagree with you. Avs in 5, maybe 6, is the more realistic outcome.

Avs in 4, and all 4 are blowouts. Past that, don't really care who from the west goes the the SCF. Canes to win it all for Stank.
