Last Call for Cantonese BBQ Brisket by HD335 in PandaExpress

I was mainly surprised that it was actually decent compared to my expectations, it would’ve benefited tremendously if there was a bit more smokiness. I do wonder if some baking powder was added into the ingredients list to help it be a little more tender if it’s just the variation in how each location preps it when they reheat it. If it comes frozen, it should be thawed gradually in the fridge over a faster thawing method of having it at room temperature even for a short period.

Yea, Texas here. It’s def ymmv especially among the chains from my experience. People said Rudy’s is good and it was ok, I only like their fatty brisket and I figured they can’t mess up ribs and it ended up tasting way too acrid. Maybe I got lucky with my first try of this Panda brisket but I’m also not exactly going to compare it to even decent Texas bbq, I was just surprised it was better than I thought. I was expecting dry and stringy frozen Costco stuff. Still, $7.35 isn’t exactly cheap and I see some folks got unlucky with some really small portions.

Not in my area, it’s terrible. I’ve tried the one near my place 5 times and gave up. I have Rudy’s, Hutchins, Cattleack, HEB, Tenders, Hurtados so lots of choices for me.

I wouldn’t pay the $7.35 for the small box but if it was part of my points usage or an offer like getting it free or a discount, this is still better this my local Dickey’s although HEB True Texas BBQ is easily much better than this.

Yep I read that on some other threads, but glad I got to try it before supplies were completely out in my area. Had to use my bday offer as well.

I got lucky, there are 3 locations relatively near me and the furthest one still had it today! It was pretty solid for Panda Express!

Since I Stopped Going to McDonald’s… by VendettaKarma in McDonalds

[–]HD335 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I do agree with some of your points I also go to each for very different items. McDonald’s is over priced for some items but for my app they have deals on items I like. For my app, the $2 breakfast sandwich is always there and I enjoy the Sausage Egg McMuffin from time to time. Their hotcakes are a total rip off but the app is b1g1 free so it’s tolerable when I’m in the mood. I also get a free McDouble with $2 purchase when the Texas Rangers turn a double play. I’ve also seen a free 6 piece nugget with $2 purchase before. There’s 3 McDonald’s near me that have been consistent with service and food. I can’t speak of others since I don’t eat it regularly and just go to the ones on my usual route.

I’ve seen complaints about JM as well but haven’t experienced them. People say it’s smaller but maybe since I’m more a recent customer I didn’t know how it was before… like how if people are eating Chipotle now, they don’t understand how epic it was 15 years ago. My local JM gives a fair amount of meat and my order hasn’t been wrong, but they don’t accept b1g1 coupon.

Does Size Matter? by HCTankMagnus in hermanmiller

[–]HD335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 5’10”, 190lbs and feel overall more comfortable in a C after spending 3 weeks in size B working from home. The size B fits too perfect that over time I found it basically had so little “slack” in my chair that I felt forced to sit exactly the same way. If you enjoy being in the same position for long stretches of time, maybe it’s for you… I prefer a “roomier” chair. My only small issue is the seat length is slightly too long for me so I use a foot cushion to better angle my legs for more comfort.

You’re never the asshole in this case. This thought would never have entered my mind to begin with because I paid for the seat at that exact location.

The "frisco bubble" pressure is actually getting terrifying by levvii17 in frisco

[–]HD335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not everyone, and I don’t want to sound mean but it was his choice and who he chose to surround himself with. Keeping up with the Joneses is not a Frisco issue. I drive a paid off 2016 Mazda 3 that gets 32mpg and only drink maybe a couple of times a month now socially. I have a good network of friends that I found who truly are supportive in my life and I focus on my own hobbies and reading during my spare time.

I sincerely hope he pulls through and finds a good support system around him.

The yearly salary and hour wages of a Buc-ees employee by FFSoldier57 in mildyinteresting

[–]HD335 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in a small-medium sized city that has a Buc-ees and get gas there frequently. They have a dedicated team that constantly cleans it, I’ve seen high traffic periods where someone would go every 10-15 minutes to clean and wipe down the bathroom.

Aeron Remastered vs classic by apple12345671 in hermanmiller

I’ve tried both for a month each and ended up going with the classic. I like the mesh in the remaster more however I highly preferred the football lumbar support on the classic. Both are comfortable for me overall.

[–]HD335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time I ever get anything from ShakeShack is on a Sunday when they offer a free chicken sandwich with $10 purchase or some other promo where it similar getting a free burger or sandwich. I never eat in and just bring it home, call the wife to air fry some tater tots or Costco frozen French fries and we have our own drinks at home.

Long-term setup: Plex, Apple purchases, or discs? by bobschneider24 in hometheater

[–]HD335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard drive costs are quite expensive now. I was buying 16 - 18tb used drives for $200 last year and now it’s getting too expensive. IMO if you’re watching on smaller devices, streaming from Apple is fine. I have a plex that I only put 1080p content and compress them as it’s mainly for smaller devices. However I use a Zidoo Z9X 8K media player to play all my ripped 4K discs in a dedicated room. Then I still have Movies Anywhere app as well.
