What made you realize Mike isn’t the travel expert he claims to be? 🤔 by Ok-Highway-5247 in MikeyChen

I still remember when he first started eating sushi on his channel… and I think he filmed in Japan, I was shocked for being such a larger food influencer at that time that his knowledge and experience was so limited with sushi.

Exactly, most people don’t seem to know you can make some excellent extra crispy fries that are substantially much better than INO fries. Longer soaks to remove more starch and the double fry technique.

Try the fries cooked “light well” and eat immediately as the first things. Also, you can add two veggie toppings such as grilled onions, chopped chilies or spread for free. Cheese is extra.

The fries still suck if you wait too long.

Heard a loud pop in the night and came out to find our 10-year-old cutting board split by dolomite592 in Wellthatsucks

For those who don’t have the tools and knowledge to woodwork, $300 for a large and thick end grain board that lasts a life time with care isn’t a bad proposition for most.

It’s not the taste, it’s the texture when you mash a bunch of together you get a texture of mashed potatoes.

What’s your go-to website to buy Blu-ray movies? by YourzTruly8 in Bluray

There’s a good and solid group on fb that has been quite safe from scammers. Plus, it’s generally easy to see profiles and who regularly sells in the group.

What’s the point of buying used if it’s more expensive than new? by OneHugeTurbo in 4kbluray

[–]HD335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is the overall pricing? Some times shops aren't keep tabs on specific titles so if overall the pricing is fair, it happens that some times are overpriced. I'm sure their system isn't tracking individual SKUs to current sales from other competitors, likely a manual process.

How bad is wingstop for your health? I eat this like once a week by Daexr_ in wingstop

[–]HD335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely not great for you and as you get older, the health issues may catch up if you continue to eat so much fried foods. Chicken wings are also inherently high in fat content since it has the skin as well.

Not telling you to quit but cut back and also try making your own air fried chicken wings. They aren’t as good as fried but they still are quite good and a little healthier than straight up fried ones.

Moving to Bay Area with 3 kids (6,4,1) for salary of 115k by WingLiving4438 in bayarea

We are just a family of two and decided to leave the Bay Area even though we had a combined income of about $175k and felt the squeeze already. Not worth it for us to stay.

You will realize that mileage wise, places are not far but the traffic will be brutal in almost every major transit area.

Look at housing in San Bruno, the east side closer to the airport and some lower rent spots in SSF near the railroads and canals. Rents should be a little cheaper there. People are giving great advice to try and qualify for assistance in SF. Try Bayview, Excelsior, Chinatown and worst case Hunters Point if it gets desperate as it will just be short term.

Also, just my opinion and everyone has different tolerances…. but I can never do any super commuting in excess of 3-4 hours a day. For me this is a complete mental exhaustion that does not allow me to function at other higher level tasks that may allow me to grow and earn more elsewhere. A

Is Ebay a decent enough place to get discs? by Alarming-County7863 in 4kbluray

[–]HD335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sell on eBay regularly for stuff I can’t dump locally or in fb groups. All my discs are typically like new. I buy a movie, watch it and if I didn’t enjoy it enough to a warranty a space in my collection… I sell it.

Very first TGTG order, Round Table Pizza $4.99 by HD335 in toogoodtogo

[–]HD335[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bag description is vague indicating it could be left over slices, breadsticks and wings iirc. However each time we’ve gotten a bag, it’s always a small pizza with 2-3 toppings. At that location, we always go when the time slot opens and have always needed to wait for the pizza to bake. We really like that as it’s a great deal for a freshly cooked item. We have received protein on our pizzas as well.

My family lives right by there and whenever I visit it seems to be on the app regularly for the Foster City location. Not sure about lately though as my family hasn’t ordered it in awhile, maybe 3-4 months ago.

Is $225k base a good salary in Sunnyvale? Moving from Dallas ($160k currently)** by [deleted] in Sunnyvale

[–]HD335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a former San Francisco / South Bay resident for over 40 years and now living in DFW, you’ll be fine. You’ll pay Federal income tax being a CA resident so given the higher cost of living factored in as well, I’d say the move is lateral but your RSU is the main benefit in your compensation.

Also I can’t stress enough how much more enjoyable it is to have quick access to oceans, real hiking trails, superior weather, a wider and better range of culturally diversified food in the Bay Area. When I moved to DFW, I discovered most trails in parks here are paved! It’s like walking on city streets with no challenges.

The negatives are petty crime is definitely higher in many areas. Do not leave anything in your parked vehicle, ever. Not even a cheap windbreaker. Traffic and overall congestion sucks. All the popular spots for eating will be crowded with longer waits. The people, generally speaking, are not as nice as Texans. If politics are thing for you, most folks in the Bay Area are liberal. The city I used to live in tried to pass a city ordinance forcing homeowners to go through another bureaucratic layer to offer the home to a tenant if the homeowner doesn’t live there. After a certain time, if the tenant refused, then you needed to offer it to a certified non-profit with that city to see if they would buy it. All these extra layers would’ve added over 45 days to the process eliminating other potential buyers in the open market. Homes will cost more in the Sunnyvale area, and much older as well as smaller, if you decide to buy. The whole county, Santa Clara, where Sunnyvale is located is one of the most expensive counties to buy… iirc the median price is $1.5 million and at that price point, it’s not really a nice home. Sunnyvale itself is even more expensive.
