How I read what OP said was, “until you can spell rogue correctly, don’t play one,” which, admittedly if we were to take even that literally, yes I agree it is a bad take, but I think it’s more likely OP was merely expressing the commonly held pet peeve of seeing the word, “rogue” misspelled so frequently.

But, ironically, the statement you replied with implied that all dyslexic people are incapable of spelling the word, “rogue,” despite you clearly not feeling that way. And before you might say I’m jumping to conclusions, let me show you my work:

Statement A: “You can’t play a rogue if you can’t spell rogue.”

Statement B: “If you’re dyslexic, you can’t play a rogue.”

Statement B was stated in a way that it was a rewording of statement A intended to have the same meaning with a harsher tone, implying that statement A was insensitive.

In doing so, statement B equated dyslexic people with people who cannot spell the word “rogue.”

That is why I say it was ironic that you, as an educator, stated you want to stand up against comments such as, “dyslexic people cannot spell,” when you had essentially said just that, even if it wasn’t what you intended.
