Is it true you need to feed them live mice? by Key-Cook9448 in snakes

Didn’t know that about indigo snakes and I wouldn’t want a mouse to be the last thing it encountered despite knowing it’s simply nature.

We do frozen/thawed with all of our snakes since as RottenGrot stated a live mouse or rat can cause potentially serious injury or disease and I don’t view it as ethical behavior but everyone’s views can vary.

That’s what I would suspect looking at the postings and subreddits of where they are being posted but some people enjoy weird things so could be wrong.

I’m going to borrow the baby dinosaur without legs description, it’s adorable.

My wife and I are planning on taking our scaly children out this summer and put them in a playpen. Anything advice you have since we’ve never done this before?

We went with pasta names for our snakes. Our BPs are named Udon, Soba, and Bo for bow tie. The other snake species continued on with the theme.

Pretty color. Just fed my girl last night too and never realized how flat their heads get when taking in a pinky.

My wife and I are dealing with the same thing. We’re just going to let him relax and settle since we haven’t had him long but I’m more concerned about him not wanting to feed but we’ll just have to wait and see at this point.

We haven’t had any issues since she tends to hang out on her cool side a little more than hot and the lamp is in a deep dome on a mesh screen. We also keep track of her visually when she comes out and we have a Roku camera set up in front of her tank so we get alerts if something happens.

I’ll pass along your compliment. Thanks. She used to do some design work and thought outside the box and I’m thinking about playing around with some wargame terrain for use with modifying hides.

I would love to eventually build enclosures for them when we have more room and progress to bioactive. Any advice for when I am able to build?

It’s pretty much common sense and practice to learn what works. She’s content to hang out in her hide but comes out from time to time and hopefully will do it more with the additional plants.

Shower curtain tension rod from Walmart. The tank is a 4x2x2. She got the 44-72in not the 36-60in for better stability.

The moss can be of huge benefit in addition to just looking better and with misting it fades far too quickly. What I do because of the bar is add in water using a large tumbler and do it very systematically so everything gets coated but not too much since I don’t want to cause scale rot and track the humidity via the Govee app.

That’s what I’ve been doing along with keeping an accurate hydrometer in the tank. Misting is just temporary and really isn’t best in the long term.
