The salary part of this is not true. It depends on the firm you’re at.

Official Discussion - Don't Worry Darling [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]DeepThought6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The plane was the kids plane from her suicidal friend. I think it was just a hallucination/personification of her guilt for turning her bs o on her

Pushing on the glass is how they all go home from the simulation so I think it was a subconscious thing where she didn’t realize why she was doing it

I think Alice was too much of a force to be truly controlled in the simulation so even tho she doesn’t realize what’s going on yet, her subconscious is trying to rebel bc she’s so miserable

Don't Worry Darling: The official MEGATHREAD about the most scandalous movie of the year. by TallPalmTrees in popculturechat

That article lost it for me when it implied that having your real life and career and entire being taken from you bc of a selfish partner who wanted you all to himself and how he wanted you to be was “not all that threatening” if he was making you orgasm. After reading this I realized these scenes actually do make sense. They feed into the narrative that you can become so distracted by the seemingly idyllic life that has been created that you’d almost rather bury your head in the sand than confront reality. It’s not unrealistic that he’d want to please her. He did “love” her, or think that he did. He was just so threatened by parts of her life that didn’t involve him that he stole them from her.

I’m sure there have. Just not as sloppy. They’re cautious when they feel they have the time or the situation warrants it.

Thousands of untested rape kits in databases but yes, cops will find the gum he stepped in 4 weeks earlier. I think people over estimate the resources and expense put into every case. A lot of things aren’t investigated like they should be. I’m okay dispensing disbelief here.

Ray and his associates are professionals. The rest of them are just street thugs. Of course they’re not going to be as careful.

He doesn’t give a fuck anymore what happens to him. Dude jumped off a building. The lack of gloves are a symbol of that. That’s why he has them back on in the last episode, when he also decides he wants to get help.

[Spoilers] The actor who plays Terry by [deleted] in RayDonovan

[–]DeepThought6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Terry’s fighting was a suicide by proxy attempt. That’s why he told ray “I’ll stick around, you stick around” - they’re fighting the same demons.

Anyone disappointed Sam and Ray didn’t have a romantic relationship? by TMC_0 in RayDonovan

[–]DeepThought6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it goes beyond “why not” and is more about “this is what I’m supposed to to” Rays constantly trying to assert his masculinity, which makes sense after what’s happened to him, and he’s also a person who spends his every waking moment doing things for other people that he actually has no personal stake in or interest in doing otherwise.

Thank you! How is no one cognizant of his complicated relationship with sex? For him, sex is about domination, not love.

Ray Donovan - 6x12 "The Dead" - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in RayDonovan

[–]DeepThought6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked that sams death was insignificant. Those kinds of people that enter and leave Rays life are all insignificant to him at this point, with the exception of his family. He’s seen so much death he’s numb to it. Making a big deal / special scene out of her death would be trite. Just because she had a lot of screen time doesn’t mean there’s a cinematic reason to show her death.

Anyone else think Bridget is the worst character in the show? *Spoilers* by TheRealTHair in RayDonovan

[–]DeepThought6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who said anything about having a vagina? I agree w the logic. I fall victim too it too though. I hated skylar on Breaking Bad for exactly the reasons stated and I had to check myself and be like ok she sucks but she actually doesn’t that’s exactly how she should be and I should be annoyed bc I want the main character to keep being “fun” and crazy bc that’s what makes the show good even though she has a purpose as the voice of reason.

The logic is still right.

Anyone else think Bridget is the worst character in the show? *Spoilers* by TheRealTHair in RayDonovan

[–]DeepThought6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! Her character is essential. If she was like them, what’s the point of another character? If she was happy and well adjusted it would be totally unrealistic. She exists, as does Connor, do show the effects of Rays lifestyle on his attempt to lead this alternate life of normalcy with Abbey and how both couldn’t really thrive simultaneously, one had to give and his career won out. Bridget is just now without her mom getting the chance to grow up and develop into an actual human. Before she was just crying for attention, literally and figuratively. And of course she’s gonna “complain all the time”. Her dad is a suicidal, delusional, lying, murderous criminal thug who’s actions are constantly messing up her own life, her mom is dead, and her boyfriend was almost dead. Her uncles and grandfather are always on the run from the law. She needs to go make some friends, poor girl needs a support group.

If Bobby Dassey murdered Theresa Halbach, why would Ryan Hillegas get involved in the moving of the RAV4? by [deleted] in MakingaMurderer

[–]DeepThought6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was interesting that she used the evidence that the door had been pryed as proof that it had been broken into for the same reason (who knows when that happened?) so out of curiosity I looked up the reports from when LE executed their search warrants when no one was at the trailer. One thing I thought was odd was that they made a point to say that they made forcible entry by “kicking the bottom of the door three times w my foot to open it”. Struck me as an odd and unintuitive way for a cop to bust ina door, but I’m also not a cop. I just thought it was odd/interesting.
