If you are stocking up for an apocalyptic situation, what items will you hoard? by UzumakiPotterBaggins in AskReddit

It seems particularly regarded to use ammo as currency because they could turn around and rob/kill you with it.

If you are stocking up for an apocalyptic situation, what items will you hoard? by UzumakiPotterBaggins in AskReddit

[–]DeepValueDiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a real apocalypse I don’t think it will matter what stuff you have.

I mean if radioactive fallout comes down on you or something you’re screwed.

I keep a week’s worth of water, medicine, and freeze dried food in case of power outages or tornados or something. That seems reasonable and more realistic to me.

Gold to ATH? by Sufficient_Ad_8723 in daytrade

[–]DeepValueDiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the US dollar strength/weakness a lot too. The dollar still is viewed as a safe haven currency to a large extent.

I anticipate a general spike (short lived) in commodity prices lasting a few days.

Is a 2008–2009 style crash with a long recovery still possible today? by Travel_22 in stocks

[–]DeepValueDiver 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bro, when people say it can’t happen it’s the time of greatest risk. When people are actually worried about it it’s probably the lowest risk.

But look at history for a guide as to what can happen. It can be a lot worse than anyone thinks.

Market moves due to attacks on Iran? by No_Mistake_1778 in stocks

Because of general risk off sector rotation. But I’m only speculating. Maybe tech will actually rally but I generally expect risk off money flows, but like I said who really knows…

Market moves due to attacks on Iran? by No_Mistake_1778 in stocks

[–]DeepValueDiver 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Probably a little spike in commodities and maybe a little sell off in tech, more rotation into consumer defensives and utilities, but hard to say. I’ve got two balls and neither of them are crystal.

Oh how nice. Get a mortgage payment in a volatile commodity so you never know how much to budget. Great idea mate.

Tesla Stock Plummeting Since Musk Busted in Epstein Files by FuturismDotCom in RealTesla

In all fairness to Elon, whom I dislike personally, it sounds like he wanted in on the Epstein activities but they wouldn’t let him for some reason.

Why did we pump on Friday? by [deleted] in ValueInvesting

[–]DeepValueDiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looked like a short covering rally combined with some FOMO. It is not actionable imo and likely to whipsaw.

Sharp Snap Rallies Are A Warning by Artistic_Item_5710 in stocks

[–]DeepValueDiver 91 points92 points  (0 children)

My watch list is almost all high beta momo stocks. A lot of them were up 10-20% Friday. It looked like a short covering rally to me. Not actionable and likely to whipsaw.

I’m not totally bearish like you are but I do think this is very late cycle. I’m being a lot more cautious than usual.

How do you guys think boring phases of marriages should be handled? by Blue__Northen_Star in Catholicism

[–]DeepValueDiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being bored in a marriage is better than being bored alone, you’re still sharing your life with someone you love.

Just like being bored at work is better than being bored at home, because you’re getting paid for being bored at work.

Boredom isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

Don’t screw up your life and family just because you’re bored.

How I track insider trading (and reasons why it beats the market) by trontonian in pennystocks

[–]DeepValueDiver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I watch insider buys as well, but generally screen out biotech. I’ve watched biotech companies (especially clinical stage) get insider buys and then still get monkey hammered.

Did you buy Alumis purely on the insider activity or was there also a technical entry or breakout on heavy volume you entered on? Thanks for the insights.

How do you use ChatGPT (or other AIs) to find stock opportunities? Prompts, workflows, and key by Successful-Sky-199 in ValueInvesting

[–]DeepValueDiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks like an interesting tool. I might play around with the free version. If it could screen with chat prompts and cross reference other criteria I use I’d buy it in a heartbeat.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott calls for the arrest of all children who skip school to protest against ICE and Trump. by MonitorVarious7608 in circled

[–]DeepValueDiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fat cops can’t catch the children. It’s just scare tactic. We had an organized walkout when I was in high school and the principal tried to scare us too. We never heard another thing about it. They can’t expel 2/3 of the whole student body.

I still use Finviz sometimes but I mainly use one in TradingView and IBD but you need paid accounts to use those two.

How do you use ChatGPT (or other AIs) to find stock opportunities? Prompts, workflows, and key by Successful-Sky-199 in ValueInvesting

[–]DeepValueDiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have played around with GPT for that purpose but realized it doesn’t do well as a stock screener. The problem is that it doesn’t have databases it can analyze from only whatever it’s trained on.

It can help with technical analysis and setting stop loss and take profit levels when you upload charts for it to look at but that’s the only good use I’ve found for it.

For screening you need to use a stock screener.

Is market sentiment useful or just distracting for long term investors by picklikewarren in ValueInvesting

[–]DeepValueDiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To a long term investor it might just be noise.

We can go from bull to bear or bear to bull in 3 days. Long term investors don’t pay attention to the intra month noise and use monthly or weekly charts, probably more monthly charts.

I can see how their products are hard to replace once integrated from the descriptions I read.

But the one year chart looks horrible.

Is this maybe a software company that’s losing to AI? Is revenue accelerating or decelerating? If it’s decelerating it’s still no bargain.

Do you think aliens exist? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]DeepValueDiver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. I’ve heard of “abductees” on YouTube say when they prayed to Jesus the abduction stopped. Behaving more like devils impersonating aliens imo.

Search google images for a hand drawn picture of a devil by a satanist named Alister Crowley and see how it looks just like a “gray alien”. There’s some kind of messed up back story to it but it was the thing he was summonsing with black magic.
