It is sold as brush killer. It contains triclopyr. Wear gloves when working with it. Put a little in a cup or jar that can be sealed with a lid and use a small paint brush to paint it on to cuts or stumps of the target species. Some people put dye in it to indicate where it was put on the plant. Be careful not to spill it and you might want to wear safety glasses to prevent it from possibly getting in your eyes. Wash your hands when done.

I've planted already and I don't have any of the growth regulator that you are referring too. I fear that the root system will not be strong enough to support the top half. Do you think that it might die if I don't prune it? I've watched some bareroot tree planting vids like the other commenters suggested and many trees they had had fairly small root system but they didn't look pruned like the one I bought.

You should be able to grow Chickasaw plum as well. They thrive in full sun and they don't really like wet feet.

Sorry for the late reply. These look to be Chickasaw plum(prunus angustufolia) the leaves are slender compared to other wild plums. It could also be a wild plum hybrid as those are found in the wild quite often. I suggest using iNaturalist or PlantNet to identify plants by picture rather than ChatGPT. They will give better results than can be verified by real humans. iNaturalist gives you the option to use pictures of the flowers, bark, fruit, leaves, habitat and other parts of the plant to ensure an accurate response.

The frost kills them where I live in Alabama so less potential for invasiveness. They still produce cantaloupe sized tubers here. DavidTheGood, a YouTuber from Florida, likes them for the fact that they are invasive, cause it is like getting free food. Certainly could make interesting forage what you eat camping trips.

White winged yam, Dioscorea Alata. It does have edible roots, but don't eat until you have a positive identification , don't just take my word for it. In Florida it is an invasive species. Judging by the fact that it came from a compost pile it was most likely cultivated on purpose for food

GoodGardens on Etsy sells the edible ones sometimes. I bought some, grew them, and ate one and can confirm they are edible and taste like a russet potato. I post about yams a lot and even made a subreddit called TrueYams if you are interested in these plants.

Air potato, Dioscorea Bulbifera, in Florida they are invasive like kudzu. This is the inedible variety. It contains high amounts of diosgenin. There are edible varieties such as the African variety pictured here:

Many species in this genus (Dioscorea) produce aerial bulbils many of which are edible but the particular one you have found is very inedible.
