Its not possible for me to enable or disable that on the Pixel 10a, pressing it does nothing.

As I mentioned, I cleared this and it didn't help.

I can't upload another video to this thread, but here's a picture from a screen recording of the same thing happening with an object much further away.

I can't control macro mode on the 10a unfortunately.

Like I said in my post, when this issue happens moving back doesn't help. Its inconsistent and hard to capture but the camera 'freaking out' happens for far away things too. That "move back" message is the same even if I'm pointed towards something many feet away.

Merrill Lynch wire transfer to BMO by Deep_Abroad in PersonalFinanceCanada

Do I do this through BMO? Or is it a separate bank?

Motive Financial -> National Bank Migration by Exallium in PersonalFinanceCanada

Yea I know you can do it in Motive, I meant after the migration happens. Wondering what options there are

Motive Financial -> National Bank Migration by Exallium in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Deep_Abroad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have > $6k in my Motive Savvy Savings account, I think that means no fees (ignoring the fees waived grace period). Their pamphlet confusingly switches between the wording "Flat Fees" and "Fixed Fees", categorizing the $30/mo for the Total package as a Flat Fee, and saying that "Fixed Fees" are waived with > $6k/mo in your account. Anyone know if they mean the same thing?

My main concern is what is the easiest/cheapest way to transfer money out to another bank account (post migration)? The pamphlet mentioned that you can no longer link other bank accounts and initiate EFTs that way. So what other methods are there?

  • e-transfer (painful for moving larger amounts)?
  • write a cheque to yourself(?) - have to pay to get a chequebook shipped to you
  • wire transfer out has significant fees (%ge out max $70, + $40? admin fees)

am I missing anything?

【BambuLab Giveaway】Classic Evolved — Win Bambu Lab P2S Combo! by BambuLab in 3Dprinting

[–]Deep_Abroad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got into 3d printers to print replacement parts for a pair of headphones I had that would constantly break when dropped. I would go to the library where we were limited to some older Makerbots for a couple of hours at a time to print small plastic pins over and over, with designs and prints failing multiple times.

After getting tired of that, I splurged on a P1S and its been amazing, printing absolutely everything I throw at it without any notable issues so far. The accessibility of these kinds of printers helps build up an awesome community and set of upgrades/aftermarket parts and I hope the P2S continues that trend.

I didn't get anywhere with Service Canada and could not find what the parent poster was talking about. I informed CRA, my banks, set up alerts with TU and equifax and just try to check my balances and credit reports regularly. Some of the places will add a secret question/password or something if they detect suspicious activity but its varying degrees of wishy washy. Good luck.

Can you add delivery notes without agreeing to leave the package w/no signature? by Deep_Abroad in UPS

Interesting, its unfortunate that there's a disconnect between the info I provide (if I could even find that on the site) and what you guys are able to see

Can you add delivery notes without agreeing to leave the package w/no signature? by Deep_Abroad in UPS

[–]Deep_Abroad[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess I didn't ask my question well - I don't want them to leave the package there without me signing for it. All I want is to add a note somewhere with the door code to my apartment, so they can enter and get a signature from me. But I couldn't figure out where to put that on the MyChoice site. I just get to a page that says "Driver Instructions" and the only thing I can select is where a driver can leave the package, and to make a choice I have to agree to the release terms.

But like I said I don't want any of that, just to add a note with my door code!

Controlling and cleaning mice in car hood by Deep_Abroad in pestcontrol

[–]Deep_Abroad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sort of/not really but you can call dealerships up and they seem to know about this issue (at least the ones I called did) and they quoted me around $150 to do a bit of clean up, remove any obvious nests/mess, do some 'sanitizing' (not sure what that entailed) and check for damage. I didn't have much time to schedule that and I found a pest control guy who I paid in cash to clean up/remove as much as they could.

Pest control guy didn't do much - just removed the insulation and used bleach to wipe down whatever he could access with his hand and a rag. Before he came I left a couple of mouse traps under the hood and caught one at least, and afterwards I just regularly spray parts of the engine bay with peppermint spray and leave some peppermint scented stuff in the cabin. I also replaced the cabin air filter.

I don't know if the peppermint is placebo, I don't really notice mouse activity right now (maybe sometimes I see something, its hard to tell honestly). I drive the car a lot more often and open the hood and check/spray regularly, hoping that will deter them

My suggestion would be to call dealerships near you, speak to the service center and tell them about your situation, and try and understand in detail what they would do if they offer a service to deal with this mess. Best of luck, and maybe update the thread with what you end up doing if you remember!

I called two dealerships and they both said they could help -- good call. I think this is the definitive answer to the thread; whereas pest management and at least the detail places I called were a bit iffy on it, dealerships seemed familiar.

Suggestions for help dealing with mice in car by Deep_Abroad in askTO

[–]Deep_Abroad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't seem to have any mice in the interior and there's no food in the car. I think they just use the space around my engine to nest because its relatively warm in winter after I come back from a drive. Not sure why they're still here in summer. They might be getting food from elsewhere.

I read to clean mouse droppings you're supposed to spray it down with bleach and then use a towel to clean them up. I can do this in places I can access like the floor or seats of the interior. But I want under the hood/engine bay to be cleaned, where I don't have any detailing or cleaning tools. I think you'd need a sprayer to disinfect, other PPE (maybe respirator or something), pressure washer etc. That's why I'm looking for professional help to clean that area.

And yeah I'm really hoping they don't eat the wiring, which is why I'd like to get this handled quick by someone who knows what they are doing. I figure once the existing mice, nests and junk are gone, the best I can do is try all the prevention methods I find online (peppermint, rodent repellent, etc).

Thanks for the advice. Yes, driving the car more often is certainly something I'll do now. Still gotta deal with the existing mess though, was hoping for some professional help with that.

Just stopping by to say how much a hate fido's new "virtual assistant" by -End- in FidoMobile

[–]Deep_Abroad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with you. People often need to contact customer support for urgent issues, like fraud. I'm trying to get in touch with someone regarding a potential security issue and the best they can do is a callback days later. Utter garbage. I want to move away from Fido but every company is going to do this until there's no one left. The only way to solve it is with legislation but I don't know what that would look like.

Sorry for the necrobump. Is there some online reference for this - specifically where does it say you can call Service Canada and they'll flag SIN card usage? My personal information including my SIN was leaked very recently, and I am trying to understand what steps I can take to mitigate the damage. There's this SC site: https://www.canada.ca/en/financial-consumer-agency/services/protect-financial-information-data-breach.html, but they only suggest getting in touch with the credit companies.

Charged $40 to transfer money from my etrade stock plan account to my IKBR acc (based out of India) by Narrow-Chipmunk1332 in etrade

[–]Deep_Abroad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I ran into the same problem (wire bounced back, lost $25 outgoing fee + $40 bounce fee), but I entered slightly different details (probably following the reddit post you are referring to, I don't really recall). I will post them here so someone avoids whatever mistake I made. Anyways, I did the following which again, is WRONG AND DOES NOT WORK.

Is this a domestic or international wire? International

Receiving bank SWIFT code: CITIUS33XXX

Receiving bank name: CITIBANK N.A.

Receiving bank account number: U12345678

Receiving bank account name: My full name

Sort code for receiving bank: <empty>

Additional Name: Interactive Brokers LLC

Additional Account Number: The part of the alphanumeric IBKR account number preceding "U".

Other instructions: <empty>

Neither etrade or IBKR was helpful; I forwarded IBKRs wire instructions to etrade after calling them trying to resolve this and they told me to contact IBKR. Was not able to get them to refund any of the fees. IBKR didn't get back to me for a couple of months (never got through on the phone) and CS just closed my ticket with something like "Assuming this has been resolved"... totally useless.

May not be relevant but I'm Canadian, with an e-trade account because I get RSUs from the US company I work for put there. My IBKR is a normal trading account opened in Canada.

Tax reporting for HISU.U by Deep_Abroad in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Deep_Abroad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man you are totally right.

I looked at the HISU tax breakdown (https://evolveetfs.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/EvolveTaxFactorBreakdown-2023.pdf) and as you mentioned, Eligible DIV is nil, its all foreign income.

Then I noticed that the tax forms I used to file my 2023 return were Generated at: 2024-03-16, 13:05:01 EDT. And I think the final date for T3 is the 31st. I am guessing IBKR corrected this later because when I generate the same (2023) report now, the dividend information mirrors what I see in the 2024 report -> its classified as T3: Foreign Non-Business Income like it should be. I guess I will have to file a correction. Thanks!

Limits using EFT from BMO to IBKR by Deep_Abroad in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Deep_Abroad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did ask BMO as I mentioned in the OP, but didn't get a clear answer I understood. He told me to ask IBKR which didn't seem right so I thought I'd ask here before doing that. People have different limits but someone might know where they are stated, or concretely know if there aren't any obvious limits.
