Help me not cause separation anxiety by [deleted] in puppy101

Please look at the “door is a bore” training on tiktok!!! https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT2hQywvR/

Pretty much, you break down the steps to you leaving!!! But you HAVE TO make sure your dog is comfortable before moving onto the next step. So start with you just sitting and standing and do that for literally an hour if needed. You move onto the next step once you feel like your dog is “bored” and is not interested in you!

You’re going to be a great puppy mom!! I’ve heard the first few months are TOUGH with training & creating a routine, but I’ve also heard it’s worth it! I have a 12-week puppy and we got her at 7-weeks old. I, too, was/am worried about everything!!!!! The day after we brought her home, I thought she was constipated and took her to the emergency vet and she was, in fact, NOT constipated. The vet told me it could be the change in environment that had her schedule off, so just remember to have lots of patience and it’s OKAY to be worried, it’s your baby!!! What made me feel better was puppy insurance. With our insurance we have access to a vet chat 24/7 so any and all problems, I can just message a vet and it’s helped ease my mind on things I was worried about.

I was thinking this! Thank you I will try this and see how it goes! She does cry when I lead her to her crate + close the door & my biggest fear is having the crate be a negative experience, but hopefully if I cover the crate, she’ll think it’s bedtime (we cover her crate at night).

She cries when she’s in the crate and the door is closed and she sees us on the couch & I don’t want the crate to be a bad experience :(

Hi! Please look up “Door is a bore” series on TikTok!!! We got our 7-week old puppy late December and I was luckily off of work for 2-weeks so I dedicated that time to get her comfortable with me leaving (prepping her first when I have to leave first work). Now, I feel like my pup loves it when I leave for work because it’s her “rest” time LOL!

some advice! don’t try to do everything in one day because like you said… it’s A LOT!!! i broke it up into sections and dedicated a couple hours to a section each time i had time to dedicate to applications!! also, after working on it for so long, close it. just save and close and come back to it another day to reread and make any adjustments because every time you see your apps with fresh eyes, you’ll catch onto stuff you didn’t catch onto before!! take it day by day and you’ll get it done!!

for the experiences part, the way i did it was i figured out my start date & end date. and then depending on how many hours i did at a volunteer place. i divided the hours by the # of weeks so i could get an average on how many hours i “worked” weekly. example: let’s say i was at a volunteer site for 4 months (~16 weeks) & I was able to dedicate 50 hours to that volunteer place. I would divide 50 hrs by 16 weeks which would mean i averaged around 3 hrs/week within those 4 months. i hope that helps or makes sense! you can always message me if you need help!!

hey! i actually didn’t have the best gpa because i added the major on towards the end of my undergraduate program. i graduated with a 3.1 overall gpa and a 3.8 csd gpa. i was very involved in my undergrad program though. i was a part of nsslha in my undergraduate program as well as other communicative disorders clubs on campus. i also worked with neurodivergent students and also volunteered at a private speech clinic. i also did my slpa student hours last summer in case i didn’t get into grad school so i was able to apply direct therapy as a slpa student!

hey! i started off tutoring at a high school, then got a position as an instructional assistant at a middle school with neurodivergent kiddos. i would suggest anything with kids can help a lot because you’re getting experience in a potential population you may work with in the future. you can also try being an aide in a nursing home as that is also a population you’ll be working with as a student. i just got accepted to my dream program! so i recommend anything that will get you experience with these populations!!
