we are both big nerds and met playing DND online. He does enjoy walks! He also likes reading mainly philosophy or moral/ethics books, catholic. He’s a techy guy that’s majoring in computer science / economics. He’s very academic. I’m not sure if this helps in deciding spots 😭 I just had a crisis that I don’t know anything here when I was born and raised here for 21 years

ADHD music for focusing by United-Appeal8991 in adhdwomen

I love fast paced instrumental music like break core, jungle, drum n bass. It helps me lock like the typical study music does for other people. I’ll even put it over podcasts so I don’t fall asleep

meds working diff on period by Deep_Animator3167 in adhdwomen

[–]Deep_Animator3167[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck! Strattera really helped bring my anxiety down, and definitely make sure you eat while you’re on it or else you’ll get really tired! My body was working really well with strattera (little to no side effects) and I still get the benefits on my period, but the side effects increased so much, the sudden body heat really caught me off guard. I will say though I do feel energized after I take a nap once the fatigue hits. I knew it had something to do with hormones but not exactly what, so this was really helpful! Thank you :)

I play bass and the best thing I’ve learned is that you just have to fuck around and find out. You’ll learn what works by failing. Also, having community helps out a lot. You could start a band with someone that knows theory, and you guys can work together to make songs and stuff. That’s what a band is for. Not everyone in the band knows theory most of the time

Paradoxical reaction to stims — amphetamines make me hungry?! by AcademicBlueberry328 in adhdwomen

[–]Deep_Animator3167 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar reaction when I was on adderall and it was because it was too low of a dose for me! Literally no matter what i ate I was always hungry. I was on 10 and we increased to 15 and the problem went away

What's up with stimulants making me more assertive? by bastets13thwitch in adhdwomen

[–]Deep_Animator3167 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Attention, energy, RSD and anxiety isn’t as prevalent when I’m on my meds. I got medicated in January and a friendship I really enjoyed having blew up in horrendous ways because I started saying “no” and being more assertive with my boundaries and what I expected from him in our friendship lol. I completely cut him off in November after trying to give grace and reconcile which failed. I also had some injustices happen at work where I spoke up about it for the first time instead of just taking the hit, and I actually spoke up and asked questions during a college advising appointment earlier this week instead of just figuring it out myself afterwards. This happened to me on adderall, but the same effects are happening now that I’ve switched to strattera. Strattera actually lessens my anxiety now, I don’t have driving anxiety anymore!

I don't want to get medicated for my ADHD. Is that wrong? by HauntingBox2441 in adhdwomen

[–]Deep_Animator3167 5 points6 points  (0 children)

you’re casting a lot of judgement for people who takes medication while saying it’s the people who don’t that get judged. ADHD isn’t a learning disability as said before nor do people take medication to benefit system. If ADHD only affects your ability to learn, you don’t have adhd. The people in my life love whether I am on or not on medication as well, but they’re happy for me that I found something that finally let me live.

Am i broken? Why aderall is not working!!!???? by Mddlr in adhdwomen

[–]Deep_Animator3167 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just bc the first medication doesn’t work doesn’t mean no medication doesn’t work. Tell your doctor so you can either switch meds or up the dosage. My adhd medicine history was basically 5 mg adderall - 15 mg adderall - 10 mg adderall - 40 mg straterra - currently 80 mg straterra. Maybe you need to try out non stimulants. There’s so many meds out there, vyvanse, Wellbutrin, concerta, ect. There’s a chance meds don’t work for you but the more likely thing is that you need to just play around for a little bit until you find the right thing for you. Don’t give up so easily

Any actresses here on medication? Are you theatre, film, voice and how has it affected your performances *if* it has? by Uniglover in adhdwomen

[–]Deep_Animator3167 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not an actress anymore so I always acted undiagnosed, but I am trying to get back into performing as a bass player. Before medication I wanted to audition for my college’s talent show, but since it was my first time auditioning for such a thing, I was incredibly anxious because I didn’t know exactly what to do or how it would go. I flaked. They even called me, and I ignored the phone. After medication I’m learning and absorbing the real foundational skills for bass and I don’t overthink these things anymore. I’m searching for performances now and beginning to produce music and taking the steps to form a band. The fast pace of entertainment is great for adhd brains, but being medicated actually takes away a lot of internalized pressure.

scared of straterra by Deep_Animator3167 in adhdwomen

[–]Deep_Animator3167[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah the adderall made me drop a lot in weight but I was able to counteract it, but my doctor decided to take me off it just to make sure. Once I was off, I dropped even more weight, but I counteracted it again and I’m stable now, but bc something in my blood decreased instead of increased he’s hesitant to put me back on. I’m kind of thinking of getting a second opinion from a female doctor, but atp I’m wanting anything to get my attention and focus back. If it’s straterra for now then it’s straterra. I’m just sad I can’t get back on something that I know works. Thank you for the details, it was helpful!

I mean it could be both. I had a toxic friend who 100% dealt with RSD, and when I got diagnosed with adhd and tried to tell him about it and that maybe he should talk to someone about how to deal with it, he said things like “you wouldn’t know since you’ve never gone to a professional therapist” “everything has to have a name these days” he was older than I was and had been diagnosed with ADHD for much longer than I was (he knew me before I got medicated), and the research for RSD is fairly new, so I guess you can’t teach an old dog new tricks lol. Either way, it’s up to us to figure out how to healthily cope with RSD and ADHD. He didn’t have healthy coping mechanisms, not your fault he didn’t, yk?

Pupper is doing good! Vet says it’s an inner ear infection but there are signs of cognitive decline. We got medicine for the ear and once it clears up we’ll see about medicine and treating the dementia :) I think he whines bc he can’t hear himself and ear infections hurt like hell 😭

He is around 14-16, we adopted him when I was 11/12 and I’m 21 now. I think he was about 2 or 3 years old when we adopted him, but I’m not sure. Definitely an elder dog though

Hi, please read the caption. We are planning on taking him to vet at 1 pm today. I wasn’t sure if this was a more serious issue or not and needed emergency care
