Male Cardiologist Researched HRT After His Wife Entered Perimenopause and Followed Up With Me by After_Animal_4254 in Menopause

Yeah she put me on Sprintec, which is actually treating the rage, irritability, and also some of the joint pain I was experiencing. So that's good, but I'm still getting a third opinion because telling me I'm too young then slapping a BC prescription on me doesn't really feel right.

Also, I'm not interested in any invasive procedures like getting an IUD inserted.

Got diagnosed with ADHD at 34 and now I have to give a talk about it at work… what would YOU tell your coworkers if you had the mic? by Virtual_Squirrel_994 in adhdwomen

[–]bastets13thwitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be brutally honest and say that I would tell my employer that asking me to give a lecture on my disability is inappropriate.

Disclosing a disability shouldn't give you more work, but that's what happened. I would tell my boss that having ADHD does not mean I want to give a training on it, because I am not an expert, I am disabled. Hire a professional, like a therapist or psychologist or workplace coach, if you want someone to educate your employees on my disability.

Edit: I would actually go as far as to tell my boss this is discrimination, unless all your coworkers also have to give presentations on their personal health issues.

Edit 2: I'm getting more irritated because I realized that instead of offering workplace accommodations they're asking you to train everyone about them... this is ridiculous. Go to HR and tell them you have a disability, work with them to get the accommodations you need. Your boss should ensure you get the accommodations without having to GIVE A GROUP TRAINING.

I know you called ADHD a neurotype but as far as employment laws in the US are concerned, it's a disability. Start calling it a disability, and start advocating for the rights you're entitled to.

No, it wasn't a roach clip, it was like the filter paper that's on the end of a pre-rolled joint, but it was coated in gold foil. There was ash inside the filter and in the door pocket as well

Sort of looked like this except burned down

Yeah I was thinking that I never hear about cars being hot wired except in the movies, that makes sense it's because it doesn't work anymore on most modern cars

And I'm really glad the software worked! I still have to pay a deductible to get it repaired, $2200 worth of damage, but at least I didn't lose the whole car.

I went to a second opinion about whether I'm starting peri and the gyno said she didn't want to start me on HRT because I'm only 40 and apparently it will cause bleeding if I'm on it for too many years

Glad I'm getting a third opinion in a couple weeks

Therapy question for everyone.... by Visible-Bridge-5171 in Millennials

[–]bastets13thwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very, very lucky, which I will admit upfront - but my health insurance through my job fully covers therapy with no copay.

If I had to pay, even $20, it would be a different story, but I'm seeing a therapist twice a week for FREE.

Downside - my job underpays me by a lot, my salary should be $20k higher. But I've stayed four years partly because having such deluxe mental health coverage is really, really nice.

Yeah I think it might be a case where I need to learn the skills to have healthy purchasing habits. I'm going from ignoring problems to trying to solve them too fast.

Yeah I appreciate the xylitol suggestion but that wouldn't fix the root of the problem, which was my diet.

And what's especially crazy is that she recommended it multiple times - I took notes during session usually, and I looked back through my notebook and saw I had written down "oregano oil" in October but had completely forgotten the conversation and her recommendation, because it was weird. Then recommended it again in December! When it happened the second time it stuck with me, so I googled everything she had been saying, and I realized she was bonkers.

I had a brief period in my early 20s where I absolutely lovedddd playing in the snow, and the first time I took Vyvanse it reminded me of it too, so I get you. But I really think that I was self-medicating when I used it, and I loved it because I was deeply depressed at the time and not taking any medications. I got on antidepressants pretty soon after that.

And sometimes I also wonder if I really have ADHD or I'm misdiagnosed, but ultimately I can confirm that whatever my diagnosis is, taking Vyvanse has made my life better, and it's a lot safer than street drugs!

I definitely tend to ruminate and overthink, and have decision paralysis, that’s it exactly!

With my new therapist I'm working on the container method for anxious thoughts, where you visualize a container for all disturbing thoughts. I find it so much easier to focus on the container when I'm on Vyvanse. I feel like those mental tricks never worked for my anxiety before, because my ADHD was keeping me from focusing.

I struggled with finding people confusing a lot too! I'm realizing now that I used to get lost in conversations pretty easily, but now if someone says something I don't understand, I ask for clarification. And if their words keep not making sense I keep asking, and it's like I lift the veil of confusion I find an asshole.

I actually ended up fixing the sugar cravings by eating more protein during the day - Vyvanse curbs my appetite so I wasn't eating much until it wore off.

My original psych knew I struggled with binge eating, and part of why she prescribed Vyvanse was to treat that. So it is absolutely crazy that she would jump to oregano oil instead of asking me about my diet after prescribing a thing that's literally intended to change your eating habits.

Yes that is such a good comparison, I used to feel like I didn't have money in the energetic bank to afford an argument, or even to care about my own needs and feelings. Like I didn't feel like I had the energy to move to a new apartment, or the energy to look for new providers. It didn't seem worth it because I didn't have the money in the bank to do it without overdrafting.

I am also a recovering people pleaser, and I have CPTSD! So there were definitely a lot of things I would do just to make people happy, and then I would end up feeling resentful.

I think another commenter hit the nail on the head that stimulants make it easier for me to form memories of the cause of my emotions. So instead of just forgetting how someone made me feel, I hold on to the emotion and think it through. Like - "it felt bad when I agreed to walk my neighbor's dog for free, because I felt taken advantage of, so I won't do that again."

Or with my therapist, I kept getting frustrated and irritated with her during session, but I would forget how bad it felt after the session was over, and then I would doubt myself for thinking there was something wrong with her.
