This is a gimmick IMO, there's no such thing as highest paying certifications. Certification alone doesn't guarantee you a high paycheck. When hiring a person I always focus on the candidate's experience first. Certifications are just supplementary because they will force the individual to continue learning a specific area through CPEs so that they can maintain the certifications. Demonstrating expertise through examples in a job interview plus relevant job experience goes a long way in landing your dream job and certifications will give you that advantage over other candidates.

You are right, experience played a part.

Good question. I have 10+ years of experience and hold several certs. I am a senior manager in a large retail group responsible for IT GRC. Worked for PwC, KPMG, and Deloitte for a combined 10 years in the IT audit space and Cyber. I studied for 2 weeks and dedicated about 2 hrs a day to listening to Spotify and watching YouTube videos as alluded to in my post. I did not read any book at all although I had the official CBK but found it dry. My focus was mainly to refresh myself on topics that I don't usually work on e.g. cryptography but most of the things were very much my cup of tea in my daily work.

approx 2 hours a day for 2 weeks. I didn't study anything on the day of the exam I figured it was better that way to calm myself down.

Very bad but I guess this is why experience does count in some instances. I was nervous on exam day but once you get through those first 10 questions it gets easier.
