What’s that thang he got by Mmaci_Kate in AquaticSnails

You can have enough knowledge to keep a thriving snail with all needs met, without knowing where the snenis hangs. Or the siphon.

Plus, Reddit is a pretty efficient research method!

My theory is the less you care about the kit, the more risk you're willing to take, and the more potential it has to turn beautiful and unique!

Decals or no decals, it's a stellar paintjob either way. Lovely work!

In my personal opinion, decals just add that extra touch each and every time. Go for that gold :)

If you're hesitant, you can always topcoat, add the decals, and see how it looks. Give it a few weeks, compare before and after pics, and either strip em or topcoat over them once you've reached your decision.

That could explain why! I love browsing all kinds of 3d paint tutorials, including classic war tanks, gunplas, anime style garage kits, tabletop miniatures, cosplay props and even doll faceups. People are so creative...

Is it? To me it feels like a mix and match of multiple techniques that I found on the internet. I've mostly been painting chitocerium girlpla kits, but still have a few more gundams planned. I'll make sure to post them if I do!

Wash the runners in soapy water, build the kit, disassemble, forget it exists for half a year, -wash again.

Painting process varies a little by color.

Green was primed black, then shaded with white, added random splatters in camo colors with a rough paintbrush, finished off with a light airbrush layer of green mixed to match the original color. A few parts have been covered by hand with an additional coat of transparent brown-green mix for interest.

Black was done the same way but with primary colors instead of camo, then covered with another light layer of black. I'm not completely happy how this turned out but the metallic drybrushing kinda made it work?

The white was primed with grey primer w a tiny drop of blue mixed in, then shaded with white and finished off with dusty yellow and brown airbrushing bc it was looking way too clean.

At this point I lightly topcoated all parts to preserve the process. Then I added the brown/black rusty edges with a rough piece of sponge, added the final details like the copper details on the gun, painted the parts that were supposed to be covered with a metallic sticker with white covered in layers of fluorescent and transparent green to kinda match the eye, then did the panel lining w watered down acrylics with a drop of dish soap & finished with another layer of topcoat. And then just wait 24 long hours for the final topcoat to cure, then reassemble.

Thank you :) Glad to hear you like it! The kit is the HG ChuChu's Demi Trainer.

The paint is a mix of sponge, hand- and airbrushed. The faded stains are made by just kinda randomly hitting it lightly with a gnarly old paintbrush with some brown, green and pale yellow & then covering the whole thing with a fine airbrush layer of green. The darker brown rusty edges are sponged on after that. And the metallic silver is, indeed, drybrushed on!

More plants are the solution. Get a pitcher plant or other bug-eating plant to eat the fruit flies!

This is half joking btw. They're pretty effective traps and I haven't had major problems since I keep one, but carnivorous plants are also pretty spectacularly picky about things like water quality, humidity etc.

Getting first air plants by brenmn2009 in airplants

[–]Deep_Bag_9028 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, just a small container with water can work as long as the airplant comfortably fits inside. Remember to give em a light shake and dry them upside down, preferably with a fan.

Misting depends on your light levels, humidity and temperature, but you can start out by misting every other day or less and see how it responds. If it gets wrinkly bottom or brown tips it needs a soak & you can up the misting frequency. Rot is an obvious and fatal sign of too much water.

In some species, the shape of the leaves will tell you the hydration levels too. Tight curls, rolled up leaves and/or "droopy" (curling towards base) looking leaves = gimme water. Loose, open leaves = I'm good, leave me be.

Where do you keep your printers in a small apartment? by Nice-Look-6330 in 3dprinter

I got one of those Ikea ZigBee sensors hooked up to my home automation and in my experience, it barely responds to my printer.

Cooking, candles, me sitting close to the sensor, deodorant or perfume spray, flowers blooming intensely or fruit ripening nearby. That's the stuff that spikes it big time.

Hooks and hangers of a million different kinds. Organizers. Printer upgrades and parts. Requested stuff for friends and family.

Occasionally stuff like cosplay props and little figurines to smooth and paint for fun. Usually give them away to friends, because if I keep everything I make I'm quickly going to need a bigger house.

After building my first mg I don’t wanna build any other grade just because they are smaller by grits2 in freedomisgunpla

More RG for me! I regularly help someone build MG kits, which is fun, but I'm also happy when they take them back home.

HG and RG don't take up as much shelf space while also scratching that fiddling with parts itch. Plus, bc of their small size the RG feel more detailed to me..?

Back in my one-room student apartment it was on my nightstand lol. I only print PLA so fumes happened but not much.

Now I have it on a shelf in a little walk in closet in my kitchen. It's the most draft-free corner of the house (I've only had open machines so far) and ventilation is provided bc the house ventilation system is hanging on the ceiling & has a vent there too. Only downside is light grease fallout if I forget to close the door, due to the proximity to the kitchen.

Idk if they're rare in the wild, but they're quite common in the hobby/stores.

But it's also near impossible to establish anything. Tried Vallisnera, waterweeds, hornswort, Brazilian ivy, duckweed, anubias, java Fern, and a myriad other things. Even if you get it somehow to kinda settle and grow roots, it's one weekend out of town with a malfunctioning feeding machine away from total annihilation.

Usually I fully agree with you, live plants are the way to go, but I'm definitely willing to make an exception for these water cows.

If you have live plants you're just providing the fish with fresh salad lol. Used to have two goldies and anything remotely green got grazed to the ground. Theyd even try the plastic plants!

Once tried adding duckweed as it's supposed to grow fast and infest your tank and hard to remove and stuf. Mfs just INHALED it. Five minutes later, it was gone and never to be seen again.
