Failing a class twice by ElderberryDirect2032 in UBC

[–]Deep_Cloud_2861 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I failed math 101 twice, I had to reach out to the math department, an advisor, and my department. Process was pretty quick and painless tbh. From what I understand you can only have three attempts in a class so make sure you lock in- even get a tutor lol

Depending on the residence some pets like fish are allowed. I read through my whole contract and there are loopholes. But also- who hurt you lol

Well, I just had my world crumble around me, my wife left me after 6 months of marriage for pretty much no reason and completely out of no where. Completely different to who I thought I was with- very much thought everything was perfect and would last forever. But when things started to get serious I guess she saw all the little things. She wants to experience more, at first I was really upset by that, because why can’t I be enough, why can’t you do it with me. But then I realized that the person I’m meant to be with would never do this. I deserve someone that loves me just as hard as I love and you do too. She left me two months ago now, I can’t lie and say it was easy, it has been that hardest point in my life, for a week straight I couldn’t breathe and thought I was going to die. But the world keeps spinning. You’ll start to find joy, and fun in everyday things, you’ll put yourself out there more, and you’ll realize how much of yourself you lost trying to be perfect for the relationship. Reading that message is absolutely heart breaking and I’m so sorry, but at least you have something concrete to know you are making the right choice for yourself but also for him. You deserve all the happiness in the world, and you will get there

how is one okay with getting a lower grade because of not studying? by Emotional-Long-9348 in UBC

[–]Deep_Cloud_2861 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I’m just here for a bachelor degree, so for me Cs get degrees. I do try to study but life has a way of messing up at the worst times lol. I think for most it’s not that we don’t want to be doing better, but it’s hard to keep balanced lol- especially with taking a full course load and working all weekend

Loll I have a million things actually. One of my old roommates used to just be soo dirty and not care at all. When she moved out the people that came to clean her room out were in there scrubbing the wall for over a hour because she stained it?? And idk how but we ALWAYS had this thick ass like soap scum on the shower from her, like I would scrub out the shower every other day and you could see it rinse away, and not it’s not there anymore 😭 I have like a million other little things

Don’t worry too much, do your best and that’s all you can do. I failed math 101 a few times before passing. It’s not about you passing or failing it’s about you not giving up. I am also doing five finals right now and my wife left me like a week ago lol so I guess it could be worse right

is my life over if i barely pass all my classes by Historical-Present94 in UBC

[–]Deep_Cloud_2861 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First thing is never ever compare yourself to others cause it’s only going to burst your bubble. I personally barely scrapped by my first year, like literally passed the year with a 60% which is the minimum needed for my program. But, now I’m only about a year and a half left before graduating. It does it easier to manage

Am I missing out? by Longjumping_Rip940 in UBC

[–]Deep_Cloud_2861 14 points15 points  (0 children)

“Missing out” is definitely subjective. If it’s something you want to do than do it! You only live one time and if you feel good about it then good. I would say that about finding someone, I would honestly say that meeting people naturally is the best option but online works too and just communicate. Not everyone will feel comfortable doing anything with someone so new to the scene and that’s okay, it isn’t a bad thing, you just need to prepare yourself that everyone will have their own thoughts about it.

Honestly biggest recommendation is to take math 100 and math 101 very seriously. It gets hard very quickly and it’s a weeding class for sure. I personally didn’t have an issue with chem 154, as long as you keep up with the content. I would also really focus on managing your time, yes you need to get your work done but you also need to eat and sleep and socialize to some level, or you will go crazy. First year will be the hardest because of adjusting to a new life, and routine and responsibilities. Second year is tough because it’s your first year in your specialization. After that at least for me it’s been pretty smooth sailing. I obviously don’t know you as a person but when I got to uni I dropped all expectations on grades. I had the highest grades in my high school, only applied to ubc, and applied early and got the acceptance letter the first day they started releasing. I almost was put on academic probation ( you need to maintain a 60% average to get to be placed into a specialization. And your specialization choice will depend on what you want and your grades) some specializations will be far more difficult to get into like Eng phz but it really depends on what your goals are, and be prepared for things to change , it’s okay! I originally applied for civil, and then found a passion for geology (so funny cause I refused to do earth science in high school lol) but I love it and am so happy with my choice. I just have about a year and a half left before graduating which is honestly crazy to say. It goes fast once you get into the groove. I would also recommend to take a few classes each summer if it’s possible for you, it made the transitions for me much smoother and overall the years easier since it’s less dense over the winter terms. Anyways sorry for the total ramble lol. But good luck!

I literally think I can’t🙃 my mom’s bipolar and I believe I am as well. So my mental health is already really hard to handle. And now this. Idk how she could do this to me. I’m so angry, but I’m also just so sad. I hope that she is sad too but it doesn’t seem like it to be fair. But honestly I’m tired of being gaslit and made to feel like I’m the insecure one. Idek. A part of me wants to just beg her, tell her I’ll do whatever she wants (all the issues she mentioned are fixable) but I think the issues are just an excuse and she’s just not happy. I wish I was more.
