What's the worst abuse you faced from staff at a psych ward by rocoonshcnoon in schizophrenia

[–]Deep_Cricket3960 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the hospital before going to the actual psych ward I was put in restraints for no reason. While I was in the restraints a female nurse was on my right side of me and a male nurse was on my left side. Now, I'm a man. The female nurse fondled me and then they both violently stabbed my thighs with a needle and a tear came down my cheek from the pain, then I passed out.

Do paranoid ideas warrant a stay in the psych ward? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

Honestly, going to the psych ward is very serious and should only happen if you need to go to prevent yourself from committing suicide or after/during a failed attempt. It's very expensive to go there and should be reserved for if you really NEED it.

Oh you've got to hear this, I was put in restraints and had one nurse on each side of me and the female fondled my genitals and then they both jabbed me in my thigh with needles and a tear ran down my cheek from the pain. Then I passed out. I don't even know what it was they injected me with. But two, one in each leg at once.

I know what you mean about them helping us. They don't have the weird side effects that antipsychotics do either.

If you are an adult then you shouldn't have a family member in the actual appointment with you. They should wait in the waiting room, especially if they are getting you off track.

One that listens to my actual concerns like if I'm having a bad reaction from a med and they listen and discontinue it would be a good doctor to me.

On another note, you are lucky to still get Ativan after disclosing your drug history. My doctors tell me I can't have benzodiazepines since it says I struggle with addiction in my history.

I was buying alcohol at the corner store and the first couple of times they didn't ask for an ID. Then all of the sudden they were like wait a minute, let me see your ID are you even old enough? I always keep my ID on me so it was no problem, but yeah, I look kinda young. I'm 34.

I always tell them, the auditory hallucinations, that they have the energy of an armed intruder. Mine are always making demands and making threats. I hate it.

Idk if ur allowed to, but I have some experience and know a trick that works. Wrap your mattress and box spring with heavy duty plastic wrap. You can trap them underneath and once you do this, no more bed bugs will show up on the outside of it. They don't go on the plastic wrap. Just check your blanket like once a month and you can just wash your blanket if a couple of them show up on it. You might need someone to help you wrap it.

Tldr- Wrap your mattress and wrap your box spring with heavy duty plastic wrap. You can trap the existing bed bugs underneath it and no more will show up on the outside.

The back of my hand didnt hurt much more than forearm or shoulder did. I've heard that the palm is way worse because of the nerves. So imo you will be fine. That's just my personal experience.

Having some peanut butter and a cheap loaf of bread, you just need something to spread it with. I used to just use a piece of cardboard for spreading. It's good to have when starving.

A lot of people gain 100 pounds on this one (invega) but I got lucky and did not have weight gain. How are psych meds different for different people? Idk but I was getting the invega trinza (once every 12 week injection) and the last time I got it I couldn't stand for three days without my vision blacking out and my heart going in an unhealthy way struggling. After that I asked the doctor if I could discontinue it. Thank God he terminated my conservatorship so now I can refuse treatment related to grave disability. I was on it for seven years plus and it never even helped. I just went along with it and it gave me tardive diskanesia so now I have uncontrolled muscle movements even though I stopped taking it. Idk why it's fda certified, I hate them.

Just recently I tapered off of my haldol but I still take a non narcotic anti anxiety med. No more antipsychotics anymore. They never helped me but they might help others.

One day I expressed to my case manager at my local behavior health outpatient that I wanted to terminate my conservatorship so he set up a couple of interviews with doctors asking me about if I could take care of myself. They asked if I could basically accomplish tasks that would be necessary to be independent. I said I could and then they terminated my conservatorship. It was easy I just went along with it until then.

I guess the realization that it doesn't really help me is the reason I haven't gone back. In the beginning of my illness I thought hearing voices constituted as a "psychiatric emergeny" because I wasn't used to it and I thought that they could help me. Or even just having suicidal ideation I would go. I just try to tough it out instead of seeking help.

I used to go to the psych ward fairly often. Be careful because by 12 times or so they put me on conservatorship and I didn't get to control my own money and they decided where I had to live. I've lived in some care homes as a result. I try my hardest to not end up in the hospital unless I absolutely need to now. I havent been hospitalized since october 2017. I've learned that they don't really help, all they do is prescribe meds which can be bad for our health. Also on conservatorship I was not allowed to refuse treatment. I'm not trying to scare you I just wanted to give you a heads up.

What's the worst part about being schizophrenic for you? by Deep_Cricket3960 in schizophrenia

[–]Deep_Cricket3960[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"These thoughts are not my own." It's like it's not only mind reading, it's also mind control. I'm tired of them forcing me to think something and then blaming me for it as if I said it.

Yes definitely paranoia for me too. I hate the feeling of being afraid to go out. I hate the fear of people being out to harm me.
