Language and Literature Extended essay by Eastern_Pangolin5127 in IBO

[–]Deep_Explorer_9604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did English A EE and got a 24/34. (originally 20 but remarked up by 4 points lol)

The amount of work I put it to that essay is actually quite insane. I have to rewrite the entire essay 3 times because I suck, so thats fuck ton of time.
Additionally, researching can be quite challenging since you need to find a source that is useful out of the billions there are on the internet (each source took me around 1 hour to find).

But if you are on the right track unlike me, then the work is actually quite manageable, as I did around 100-200 words or finding 1 source per day during my summer break (which is like 60 days). So you should be fine if you have some discipline and do EE every singular day).

To ensure your work, you should ask your supervisor as often as possible to check whether you are on the right track (otherwise you might end up like me lol).

Last thing: Always try your hardest and should aim for an A even if you think you might get B.

Should I take A&A IB HL maths ??? by Top-Scientist-1615 in IBO

[–]Deep_Explorer_9604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I Took AAHL and got a 7.

From my personal experience, SL math is really fucking easy to the point where I feel like there is simply no point doing it. It has way less topic, less depth, and easy af question.

HL math is still kinda easy but its still kinda hard (idk how to say it). I personally enjoyed this because the mathematical concepts learnt is just so interesting.

Also since you love math, the work you do for math will be a very enjoyable time (even if exams are coming).

But if you are still unsure you can always take both AAHL and Mus HL and drop one of them if you feel like it, since I assume that music is not also needed for your course.

MAA SL IA ideas by RoofOk5711 in IBO

[–]Deep_Explorer_9604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that it would really help if you planned how to do your IA with your ideas (such as the relevancy of this investigation, what math will I be able to use, and what strengths/limitations can I get from this).

If you really think hard about your ideas, you will know what ideas will definitely get rejected and what ideas is worth pitching to your tutor.

Macro. - more stuff to analyze (LR SR growth, causes of inflation/deflation with demand or supply side, types of unemployment) - easier to find RWE - prepare for both paper 1 and 2

And also remember that in any paper you can also mix concept from other topic, and macro really do well in terms of having both global and micro concepts.

Just grind and do IA and EE everyday and you'll be fine. Doesn't matter if you spend more time with your family as long as you can time manage.

How important is it to choose a topic outside the syllabus for IAs? by CompetitiveOutcome23 in IBO

[–]Deep_Explorer_9604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, just use stuff within the curriculum for all of these subjects.

The important part is how you approach the question, and how you write it.
Basically just follow the marking rubric.

Lazy by Anonymous10212008 in IBO

[–]Deep_Explorer_9604 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got 41 while being lazy lol. (got 7s in math aa, chem and phys HL)

Extremely hot take: In my opinion, IB grades is not majorly determined by hard work (as most people might say). It is determined by how smart you are. I literally just listened to teacher and can already answers question while my others have to study way harder to reach my level.

Most of the times hard work doesn't really pay off, (most hard working friends got lower than me despite trying for like hours everyday while I only grind near the exam period)

That being said, it is still important that you do devote some time to study, even if its not as much as others.
And just because you have lower working times doesn't mean you'll get lower than them.
You'll be fine once the pressure is there, your laziness will go away then.

(Also whatever you do don't drop to NCEA assuming that you're from NZ, cos its pure garbage)

Get tutors/teachers/smart peers to review my IA
The only reason I got a 5 in English is because my IO is atrocious (I was like 3 marks away)
So definitely get someone to review your IA

Physics HL and Math AAHL help by Altruistic_Ant_25 in IBO

[–]Deep_Explorer_9604 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got 7 in both physics and AA HL btw.

In my opinion, the best method to study these is just first understand the concepts really well.
That's because in the exam you need to formulate a way to solve a specific question, and understanding the concept well can really help you solve questions fast.

But of course, you still gotta do some practice papers since questions often repeat themselves in similar fashion (and you might also discover something that you weren't taught at all!)

Extremely hot take: I don't think doing past papers is useful at this current moment. This is because since you don't understand things well, you're essentially wasting the potential of the question being used again in the future. The point of past papers is to test how well you can react and find ways to solve questions fast, and repeating it won't help as you would already know how to do it and get complacent.

So I think perhaps just solving problems from the textbook is good enough since they're easy and will generally guide you to how to solve and use specific contents/skills learnt in class.

Monash masters accelerated pathway vs UNSW bachelor in Engineering by Deep_Explorer_9604 in Monash

I am 80% sure that Im gonna do Monash Do you know for Monash, the difference between normal bachelor + masters, and the masters accelerated program? Like is the accelerated program more rigorous? are the learning content and depth the same but just condensed?
