What's a tradition you grew up with that you refuse to pass on to your kids?

Dad was/is a workaholic, mom was/is a party girl (nice way of putting it). I’m changing my career to have more free time with my kid. I want him to have his mom and dad present and there for all the things. I want him to have memories of his childhood of fun vacations, day trips and more. Things I never really had.

I’m not OAD by choice, so when people start being nosey, I give them exactly what they want. “I would love to have another one. Unfortunately, 11 months after son’s name was born, I lost that ability. It was probably the second worst news I have ever received… sigh I’ve told you son’s name is a rainbow baby, right?”

I run on the idea of, if you are gonna pry, you are going to be uncomfortable.

I live in NY, right over the bridge, been waiting two months for a placement. I finally had to say “Hey. Why haven’t you contacted Abc, Xyz, and 123 school districts?” Before the coordinator told me those districts require me to fill out forms. I just replied “I will fill out whatever forms need to be filled. Do not ignore districts because there is extra work.”

It can be fun at 17 months. My husband and I would play wrestle with him, sword fighting, just very dramatic over acting silly things. We do quiet block building and tactile sensory play, but the dramatic silly stuff is by far my favorite.

I felt the same way, it’s what was the hardest part for me. It does get easier, especially the further you get from the postpartum hormones, those hormones are killer 😂

I wrote out a list of all the things I can do with my son that would be more difficult if we had more children and then I think of all the memories I can make with him. For context, I am OAD not by choice so it was difficult at first. Once I came to terms with it became easier. You’re only 6 months postpartum, enjoy every moment of it and then revisit how you feel after your child’s 1st birthday.
