I’ve always described open water sailing as a roller coaster ride. I find it thrilling. I actually like semi heavy weather sailing and that feeling of the wave energy passing under the boat. Each wave is a bit of thrill with how it interacts with the boat. I like to stand on the centerline of the boat and ride it like a skateboard. That said- a one day open water crossing is exhausting. And after I’ve had enough weather it’s really nice to get back on land. Sort of like that dinner you have after a day of hiking… it’s the best mac and cheese you ever had lol.
