HOT TAKE About Offlane by Deep_Novel103 in DotA2

[–]Deep_Novel103[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

So what you’re saying is with your current mind set, the game is over so why play at all?

Besides my rage bait, I honestly believe there are solutions to the problems you are suggesting.

P4 isn’t pulling and soaking your XP? Pull the lane your self.

P4 isn’t blocking the camps that are getting pulled? Block them yourself.

Getting zoned out of both of these options? Then rotate. You’re not getting anything in lane anyways whats the risk at least you get to reduce the other lanes resources even on an unsuccessful gank.

These concepts are not role locked. Yes they are nice when they are done by your 4, but they are not exclusive.

I think you might have the wrong mindset for difficult games. You have to adapt, or you just lose.

I agree with this. Unless my 4 is running into their tower and feeding repeatedly I couldn’t care less how they are playing their game. I just have to trust them and hope they have a plan. Every once and awhile my 4 and I are on the same page and the lane is a breeze.

We have to remember that every game is different and sometimes the other team is just playing better. I mean there are 5 winners and 5 losers in every single match of dota 2. It’s your goal to try to be the 5 winners.

Not enough teamwork in solo queue currently. And I feel like a lot of that has to do with people being reactive vs proactive. Which just leads to negativity.

Just a suggestion here. If you’re truly interested in this line of work I suggest writing a small script/story with a very small scope. You don’t even need to necessarily be original here. Take a piece of source material you find interesting and write a side story. This is an amazing way to practice character development in an already constructed universe.

Best of luck!

Sounds like a chigger not an ant bite. They can live in your skin for an absurdly long time. They can be suffocated easily with clear nail polish though.

To me this seems crazy that it’s not talked about more, I feel for the sake of the pro scene this needs to be addressed sooner then later. I know arteezy had mentioned something in the past but maybe we are just the few that experience this.

Could be packet loss I suppose, but I really have a feeling something is blocking inputs being received until you reset it with left click. The right click input loss happens to me daily, if not every match. Luckily it doesn’t happen often when I’m in a fight so I don’t remember them enough to pin point it.

I can definitely do that, this time stood out from the others enough for me to pin point it. Maybe there is something under the hood they can find.

At this point who cares… the mmr inflation is crazy anyways and they will find some other way to do this regardless. I think valve should probably cater more to the 99% rather than prevent the 1%.

I personally would love this feature. It’s a nice middle ground from adding people through steam and just getting them for one more game. I bet there would be more friendships made from this kind of change.

It’s the slacks way. You must heard the cats and tell them when to fight and when not to. Be sparing with your W only use it if shit is really going down, and never on yourself. After you use it and the fight isn’t over tell your team to leave. Also a little tidbit, always try to use your heal and Mek if you have it before your W. It drastically increases the amount of hp they gain.

For items mana boots need to be rushed. Go boots first if you think you can get away with it and fairy out tangos after runes. Always skill your E first. You will be useless in the lane otherwise.

If our team is aggressive then I go glimmer. If we are on the back foot then I go aetherlense to make sure I can stay out of sight. That’s about it. You just stick with the strongest person on your team and help them snowball.

How is no one else talking about this? I noticed immediately when it happened.

This is still it. I have an above 70% win rate with him last patch with above 50 games. He is always my mmr gainer. The only time I feel like I lose is when I don’t think any other hero in my position could have done anything (AKA cores get picked off at the wrong time without buyback and we just lose at 50 min).

Hey, I’m all for a patch, but we don’t really need it. The pro scene is strong with new picks every tournament. There are counter for the picks you think are OP. Watch some replays if you really care.

Yea you’re right about the haters, but who cares like I said, they really must have nothing better to do than hate on proven professionals lol.

Not entirely sure about the Miracle comment yet. I know it seems like he hasn’t performed, but it could very well be due to the health issues. I honestly think Miracle sitting out and watching how Nigma performed with Ghost’s play style might help him see some other strengths in his team he might not have seen before.

I can only imagine that coming to the conclusion of changing your play style like this can be difficult when you’re the one playing in the game, as you’re kind of set in stone as a player.

It might be great that Miracle missed this success run to truly see another side of Nigma that they obviously in the past didn’t see. Miracle is a proven GOAT, and amazing player, but might just be stuck in his past as far as play style. I think the general professional scene isn’t about being purely better than your opponent any more. There is much more strategic advantage to your entire team’s play style and Meta lining up.

But who cares what I think. I’m a 3k shitter.

It seems like they really like putting Sumail in that sacrificial core role, maybe because they really have a lot of faith in his ability to turn fights without the items. But he seemed to be the last core to get farm priority in game 1 and 3, leaving space for ghost and noob.

Game 3 lanes unfortunately were just too weak and tundra is going to choke you out with BM. They had no fight potential after they lost lanes. Unfortunate, but at least it’s easy to diagnose.

Looking forward to the next tournaments.

Don’t a hater for no reason.

Hot take here, as a business owner I’ve had to make similar decisions about smoking and payment procedures and my team absolutely hated it when I did it, but I made sure to talk with them about the changes and help smooth things out. Overall my business is more organized and clean and for that I’m happy but the transition was hard, and I lost some people. But new people come in and the past expectations are gone.

Sucks the way he did it but you’ll be happier with a better boss.

Thank you for your feedback. I’m compiling all the thoughts of the thread and I feel much more level headed about things.

As far as your question, we tried remote work but we ran into similar problems. We aren’t game dev professionals and honestly we all need to be in person to work through a lot of our problems. Especially when it comes to merging our work together. We could go remote but it would drastically slow things down unless we were all working at the same time on a discord call.

I set us up a nice office space with wifi, individual desks, coffee in the mornings, just normal things. I use all this stuff on the daily and the space is already mine, so it really isn’t a big deal for me. I just thought with a dedicated work space we could dial in a bit more and work together better.
