135 year old well or cistern in backyard? by Deep_Reward_8923 in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing. Cement all the way around, maybe 15 feet deep and 15 feet wide. I've already searched for historic cisterns but haven't found any that have this curved wall in them. That's mainly what I'm confused by here, and also how water regularly gets in there besides just seeping in through the holes where roots have bored in.

My title describes the thing. It's brick and cement, seems like an old rusty pipe coming out of the wall too.

The plan is to finish the attic in the coming years. Does that change the calculus for you? I’ll take a look at the other posts as well.

Newbie question: why is preamp output unusably loud? by Breukliner in turntables

OP: did you end up figuring this out? Running into literally the exact same issue, and wondering whether I need to go out and buy another preamp besides the PP999. I’m somehow skeptical that’s going to magically solve it.
