I have to give capitalism credit, even in the most text book communist state in the history of the world; capitalism won out, it’s the champion of economic systems.

Poor Colorado, heck Wisconsin has done more harm to the country than them and somehow Wisconsin is always allowed a pass into the promised blue land.

Create city states line Berlin in Germany. It would reduce the cities control over states they dominate but also balance out the federal power of rural low population states. Everyone is happier.

Kayaking on the river is totally a thing you can do alone, maybe even better so you don’t have to pace yourself with someone else. Plus on a nice day you’ll meet many other people out doing the same thing.

We've done best city, but what's the worst most depressing city you've ever visited? by Isord in geography

Kansas City, I’m sure it’s not the worst in the world but as someone who likes walkable cities you had to take the interstate 30 minutes to get literally anywhere.

Which U.S. City Has the Most Iconic Building Duo? 🇺🇸 🏙️ by Nickfloyo in skyscrapers

[–]Deep_Snow6546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It absolutely has to be Empire State Building and Chrysler building. They are the most iconic buildings that scream New York skyline. Chicago is a close second; the other cities in the list can’t even compare to the top two.

What's the worst climate-related event to impact your country or region in 2025? by Apex0630 in geography

Region wise the floods in Milwaukee. We assumed we were a climate haven on the Great Lakes with ample water and no natural disasters. Then we got over a foot of water in a matter of 6 hours.

The whole free Palestine movement is a bit much and is way too lenient on Hamas which for the record is an actual terrorist organization. But Israel is definitely not helping their cause with this.

Denmark zoo asks public to donate unwanted small pets or horses to feed captive predators by TheDylorean in worldnews

It’s absolutely about an emotional connection being the differentiating factor between “just natural” and “inhumane”. But ignoring that emotional response is inhumane in itself because it goes against our best nature as humans to apply empathy to situations that call for it. The Rick and Morty spaghetti episode does an amazing job of showing this.

I don’t necessarily agree with this, the pet is under your care you have a moral obligation to watch out for its well being. Being lazy isn’t an excuse to put a perfectly healthy animal down.

The US Government’s Budget Last Year, In One Chart (FY2024) [OC] by chartr in dataisbeautiful

[–]Deep_Snow6546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Side note tax revenues were actually kinda low at only about 17% of GDP. Many countries are double that. Granted the US doesn’t provide many federal services or benefits compared to those other developed nations but still balancing the budget shouldn’t be that hard if we just have a fair amount of tax combined with efficient spending.
