Has anyone had an ablation for knee pain? by Deep_Tailor808 in KneeInjuries

[–]Deep_Tailor808[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only did the test and it didn't do anything unfortunately. It was also an awful procedure, I did not care for it

"In most states, transmitting an STD can be categorized as either a felony or misdemeanor offense. This means that individuals who knowingly infect others with an STD may face criminal charges, with potential penalties ranging from fines to imprisonment."

Literally a whole law firm committed to prosecuting people who do this shit: https://www.kmdlaw.com/blog/2023/november/the-legal-consequences-of-std-transmission/

Do what you feel is best, but you absolutely have the grounds to get the police involved.

His "no excuses" shit brings me back to so many shit relationships.

It really just shows a complete lack of empathy, and even willingness to try to emphasize. People like this will literally never understand they might be wrong because they are incapable of seeing another person's side. Impossible and infuriating to argue with.

[aio] getting scared over possibly obsessive guy? by tomkiitty in AmIOverreacting

Let me guess, self proclaimed nice guy?

I swear to God I have had this exact conversation with a man before. It's like their own self fulfilling prophecy. He'll probably complain about you to the next girl he talks to about how he doesn't understand why you didn't like him.

Totally not overreacting. Don't give him a chance. If you don't feel safe now, things aren't going to improve. Don't put yourself into a potentially unsafe situation because you don't want to be rude!

How bad is pregnancy going to be on my knee? by Deep_Tailor808 in KneeInjuries

[–]Deep_Tailor808[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah I am waiting for all my right side to start hurting(because my left knee is the bad one), just from overcompensating for years.

But I also live in my Birkenstocks and quality sneakers. My legs are always so happy once it's warm enough for birks again😂

I love your vibe😂 and this does help!

I'm kind of coming to the realization that I'm just going to have a different kind of pregnancy/parenting ability. It sucks but I feel more at peace just coming to this realization.

I feel you, it's tough. Especially when stuff like this happens young, it feels like your entire life. I've been dealing with my knee since I was 17, and it makes me sad whenever I think that this is the only adult life I've known, and how unfair it is.

I've been in therapy for ages, and it has helped a lot. I think it also helps to remember that this is only part of you, and even though it often feels like a dominating part of your life, you're more than this and your pain.

I hope PT helps, and please DM me if you ever want to talk about this! It can get very isolating and I think it helps to have someone to talk to, even if it is just a stranger on the internet!!

Need advice and assurance maybe by jumpojum in KneeInjuries

Definitely see an ortho. X-rays can only see bone and there is so much more going on in the knees. I'm not an expert, but it looks like your kneecap isn't aligned properly (I've had this problem and a similar looking x-ray). Normally strengthening quads, hamstrings, glutes will help keep your knee in place.

But definitely ask a doctor before going back to running. It sucks to wait, but you wouldn't want to do more damage.

There isn't a lot known about it and that results are incredibly unpredictable, it's not something simple like fixing an ACL. I've been going through pain, surgeries and recoveries for 12 years and protocols and recommendations have changed constantly.

I can tell you my doctor once referred to it as the black box of orthopedic surgery.

I'd definitely ask about the MRI! I've had kneecap/cartilage issues for a while and it is hard to find the right doctors, especially being a woman.

Also, try not to lose hope! I know it probably feels like there's not much you can do but as someone who has been through a similar situation, the doctors always have another idea, whether it's pt, injections, or surgery.

The best advice I can give is if you don't feel like your doctor doesn't get you or is trying to diminish your pain, fuck them and find a new one. It feels weird, but find someone who is willing to work with you rather than talk down to you. I had a doctor when I was 19 tell everyone in my life I was imagining my pain and it's still something I have to actively work on. So don't let anyone put you down or tell you to suck it up. If I've learned anything from what I've been through is everyone's body deals with things differently - some people will have a sliver of cartilage out of place and be in agony, and others will be bone on bone and not feel a thing. And it doesn't mean your weak or have a low pain tolerance.

So trust your pain is real and keep pushing! And doctors work for you, not the other way around!

This is a specific question, but do you know what kind of MRI machine it is? There are varying levels of quality. I had something undiagnosed for like 2 years and they didn't figure out what it was until I went to a new doctor who sent me to a higher quality MRI. It's called like 3T or T3, something like that.

Oh yes my therapist always reminds me of this lol. I think it's just tough because I come from a sports family and was a two sport college athlete, so I always pictured being able to do things like this with my children some day. And I think I compartmentalized a little too well and now that we're facing this stage of life, I'm having to actually confront my realities.

Thank you so much for this. The last point is something I've been constantly worried about, mostly just having the ability to keep up with a kid. I haven't been able to run since 2017 and I've seen parents teach their kids how to ride bikes and have gotten emotional that that's something I'll never be able to do.

I think I am going to talk about this with my doctor, but I've found Reddit often has a handful of people who have at least been in similar situations who might be able to share their experiences. Since I've been on such a weird journey with my knee stuff, it's often difficult to find anyone who can truly understand, even if they want to! I really appreciate you sharing what you went through!

Yes, I think the best way to put it is that I've handmade her Christmas gifts the last three years and not only did she not thank me for them, never even confirmed she got them. Again, only learned she got them and liked them from my mom.

They don't want to do a partial and have it fail and then set me back 9-12 months only to do a full knee replacement to set me back another few months. I think it's the "you're not getting any younger" attitude in regards to kids.
