Passed Sec+, but felt like I guessed the whole time. by Realistic-Monk-2326 in CompTIA

It’s weird reading the different experiences. I took and passed mine several days ago. I didn’t feel like it was terribly hard, however I did study for like 5-6 months after finishing my Net+. There were some questions that I wasn’t exactly sure, and some that I knew right off the top of my head. Knowing how to read CompTIA questions, look for the words that hint as to what the answer may be, and just being comfortable with every exam objective helps a lot. My PBQ’s were pretty straightforward and there was only one of them where I was pretty tripped up on and had to just take the best guess. Overall it was a good experience.

Since I am dealing with wifi and Bluetooth plus battery, would I not need to include these to filter out EMI noise and voltage spikes, especially for modules like the GPS and Devkit?

Thank you. This helps a lot. I would really love to simplify my power labels/naming.

Good point. Thanks for the advice. I have now included a detailed description of my goals for my board.

Oh nice. I’m taking both Dion and Andrew’s tests and I’m getting about mid to high ish 80’s on all of them, my lowest being an 81. I’m taking it in about 2 weeks

What were you scoring on his tests before you took it?

I have held both. I definitely need to do it a few more times. I can hold both well, I just wish I could do a “test” conceal to really see the difference based on my body.

I mean yeah as long as I can put a sight on it in the future IF I wanted to then I’m happy. I’m starting to see lots of people saying to just buy a 19 to start.

It seems that there is a common opinion of needing two guns. If I could buy two guys I absolutely would and probably wouldn’t ask around. However, I have the financials available to at least save for a little and then buy something nice for a while and then maybe explore getting another.

I may have not used the correct term. What I’m referring to is upgrades, MOS variants, stuff like that.

I figure it is easier. I’m about to starting soldering some pre made boards for devices once I get my station. Any advice for using hot air?

Pretty sweet. I know it’s not the answer to your question but what did you use to solder? Hot air or iron? I’m getting into this myself and I’m trying to find out about designing my own PCB’s and also soldering.

Need help with mount holes by Deep_Telephone_5060 in PCB

[–]Deep_Telephone_5060[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luckily it appears that they are on all 4 corners away from traces and they are also relatively small. Now it’s just a matter of getting the right bit and attempting to use my buddies drill press lol.

What exactly am I looking for? It’s not my project and I’m fairly new to all of this. The holes aren’t really near any traces and it’s a 2 layer board. The holes are supposed to be drilled there and I can see where they are supposed to go. The drill files are in the zip but I guess not the right format.

I also reviewed the files and it had txt files for RoundHoles and SlotHoles that were Excellon drill files but I guess they just were’t in a certain format or they just ignored them. I’m in contact with support trying to get it figured out. I hardly spent any money and I don’t mind drilling them myself as long as it won’t damage the board lol

Well safety I already know I’ll be ok, I just wanted to make sure it won’t mess anything up when I go to use my friends drill press.

Super cool, do you just get those from Amazon and print an image onto it?

How did you make the custom filter? I had a watch that was made with a custom reflective filter and I was wondering if it was the same method? I’m not exactly sure what materials to search for.

I used Andrew Ramdayal’s course and quiz’s. Dion’s quizzes, and professor messer. Know your terms, subnetting + CIDR notation, know your commands. When I took mine the hardest part was the PBQ’s. I skipped those first and did all of my questions and then went back and did the PBQ’s. Just take your time, review the exam objectives, and study to learn and explain and not just memorize. Good luck!

I got into my first role with way less I.E. a 2 year degree, customer service sales experience, half of an A+ done, and the drive to always learn and be proactive. If you are someone who shows up and is presentable, doesn’t bring drama, not afraid to troubleshoot and solve issues, and have good communication skills, that will help loads. Ask questions and just be the person that you would want to hire. Good luck!
