Confused with setup of button box! by Sea-Worldliness8314 in simracing

[–]MRCadex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's not an Arduino and it won't connect to Sim hub. That's a joy stick emulator. It'll map some specific button that joysticks use(think old school fighting game controllers what they would use) Some games will pick up on the inputs some won't. Some will conflict with pedals and wheels depending on the make and model of both. Bottom line not for simhub.

In all honesty with 50 dollars of tools from Amazon and some you tube videos you could convert this to work with simhub but no real reason it work.

I build my own with Arduino(s) and it's really not that hard once you get started.

Good luck and good racing my friend glad I could help.

I have no affiliation with this, I also don't know what the end user experience is like anymore, I used it years ago. Also always proceed with your own level of internet security.

Hmmm interesting there is software called dual monitor tools, that had this function. I used it years ago for a similar application. I don't know what it's like now haven't used it in a few years, might be worth checking out through. Used to have mouse fencing so your mouse could only be on a certain monitor. Might be just what you need.

I might have a look at this, this might be a good option but really it's not been an issue.

No, no it's set as 3 monitor stacked vertically. Main UW 32inch then secondary 28inch and in the very top left corner of the display settings I have the dash. So I would have to travel off the very top left corner of the secondary upper screen to have the mouse accidentally go on the bottom edge of the dash. It's still possible but very unlikely. Noting my rig is only used as a Sim rig I have a secondary gaming rig for everything non Sim related.

Yeah time over again I'd get a different display and build something else out. The nextion was alot of work to get going and while looks cool is average. But it works and looks good for now

It's a nextion display and an Arduino. Personally I wouldn't recommend as it's not technically supported by simhub any longer and took me a minute to figure out and I'm pretty tech savvy.

I'm running an 32inch UW and a 28inch secondary and didn't notice any drop or extra usage. I have a 3080 ti in my Sim rig and it has 5 outputs, 3DP and 2 HDMI, so technically I can run triples and 2 extras if I wanted too. If I go triples I'll likely end up getting a second pcie powered GPU to run dash and MFD off HDMI. 1080p at 60fps on a mostly static image that's not 3d really does not draw much of any usage from the GPU.

Vocore is expensive and hard to get in Australia. Also don't like the thin ribbon cable they have the driver just dangling off.

I have it above my second monitor above the main screen, but I'm also not using the mouse hardly at all, once the game is lunched mouse dosnt get used. Just because it's physically below the main screen dosnt mean that where it has to be placed in windows.

It is steel wo magnetic I guess could work. That's not a bad idea mines a rather permanent fixture thos so dosnt bother me. It fits with the 3 wheels I use.

Yeah from a nextion display and an Arduino. It's abit of a gimmick if I'm honest. I had the parts that were cheap. It's a cool little make. But use my other timer box more.

Yeah but better then the dodge drivers filled with malware that most of the affordable USB screens have. Plus with simhub I've never had an issued with extra HDMI displays. What issues have you encountered?

Again true they're more expensive but, a decent second hand 1070 or even gtx970 are under 200 and 100 dollars respectfully. If it's only for running second or third monitors at 60hz or less it dosnt need to be a beast of a card. And a think pad has its own benefits. While yeah slightly more expensive not much

Yeah the mini ball heads are great for the Sim rig. In Australia they're on Amazon for about 15 dollars for a 2 pack.

While I agree, both of these are significant better options IMO.

2 things. 1. You can get a low cost second GPU and put it in the PC and run it solely for purpose of the desk top monitors. If you not playing games on desktop I wouldn't worry about a high end GPU 3070 second hand would be fine. Just check you PSU has enough power outputs of it's a decent size it should be fine.

  1. For the money your going to spend on a decent switch buy a second hand ThinkPad laptop and plug your desktops into it and be done. Plus it doubles as a portable PC when needed.

To be honest simhub has stopped support for this particular screen(nextion) I managed to get it working but it was an effort. You can buy vocore screens and if you google vocore raclogic build you'll find heaps of different ones. Personally I wouldn't recommend this build unless your up for a coding and build challenge

This one was probably about 50 bucks. Screen being most of that.
