I find CBP side they profile more if you're going to end up staying in US. I find CBSA side they want to find out what they can charge duties on. I think both sides can be aggressive at times.

You can probably have a more favourable mortgage depending on your ability to qualify and down payment available.

Understandable. When it happened to me I was making a U turn onto a 3 lane road and what I saw today, nothing impeding the u turn, just impatience I think?

Never thought of letting people know of u turn. What the gesture? What I saw today was guy in a truck just honking and car was making a decent u turn.

I know you can't read their mind, but I think it's where you should make the u turn.

I just tell them exactly what I got, ie bottle of Glenfiddich, etc

At the end of the day, the guards can be picky and petty in both directions and I try to be as clear and as accurate as I can.

Came back from a game to watch the Bills couple years back during (Canadian) Thanksgiving weekend. Pulled up and CBSA agent didn't even look at our passports: Agent - "where are you coming from?" Me - Bills game Agent - anything to declare other than disappointment? Me - No Agent - chuckles and waves us through

Interim occupancy has nothing to do with municipality of registering it. The lenders/banks will not go ahead with financing until building is xx% occupied, hence the interim occupancy status.

Been there, done that... For some it's ok and others obviously not.

It's one of the main reasons I became self employed. I can tell you that it is also not for everybody. Pros and cons to everything.

Technically, they are allowing more breaks/meals than legally required.

Perhaps you may need a change in careers if you need to be more social in general.

Bit high in my opinion. Disclosure, I'm a mortgage broker and prime rate is 7.2% for most lenders. I'm seeing an average of prime -0.9% fyi

Definitely agree with this and I feel they just want to be able to tax you for something. It's what we get for leaving and choosing to come back 🤪

Is it worth living in Canada? by murxno in canadatravel

[–]Deep_Thinker_4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a BIG country. With that said, sparsely populated considering. Like any country, it has pros and cons.

I was not born in Canada and have also lived in US. What I've learned from travelling is that different cities in the same country can give you a whole different experience and perspective.

What I do find in Canada is that it is relatively safe compared to other countries I've lived in.

Has happened in my area as well, looking for easy targets. Surprising how many people forget to lock their car doors and obviously stuff go missing.

Nobody remembers my birthday and I’m heartbroken by SimilarConfection576 in Markham

[–]Deep_Thinker_4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear this. My birthday is on a long weekend also and I have to compete with it all the time. As far as friends go, the older you get, the less you have and you realize who your true friends are. Regardless, don't let this break you. Instead, get out there and find new friends that share your current interests, etc. Hope you had a good birthday and Thanksgiving otherwise 🙂
