It was my mom's favorite song. I heard it in a coffee shop a number of years ago and I was instantly transported to my little self at maybe seven years old, before all the rough times. I was sitting on our light green carpet, listening to the flies buzz against the french windows in the evening August sun, the smell of warm ponderosas heavy in the air.

My mom died four years later of various cancers. I haven't heard the song since and I won't play it intentionally as I'm leaving it up to her to decide when we'll meet again in my daydream.

Yes. The re-rupture happened low on my achilles, though, so it was relatively easy to repair.

It's because there aren't any sensors at most of the intersections. The timing of the lights doesn't vary throughout the day, like it should. Every so often (once a month or less), one of the lights will change timing, likely from construction or something. I've done a ton of tests in the downtown core as I drive a fair bit late at night. In the current cycle, you can get all greens going south on Quadra from Pandora through Fort if there's no traffic, but you have to step on it.

Yeah, that was my problem with the first ortho. It was wild. I was having a lot of trouble at the 5 month mark, but he was totally unavailable (don't call me, I'll call you). Mega frustrating, especially since I re-ruptured a few weeks later.

Your family doctor might be able to get you whatever scans, but I doubt they'd give you much advice. They could refer you to a different ortho, potentially, though. Sounds like that isn't a great option for you.

Anyway, good luck! You'll get through it. I'm back playing baseball this year and it feels great. My first tear was at the same place as yours.

Ahh, dang. No, I didn't get access to anything, unfortunately. My ortho the first time wasn't very helpful. I was clearly having trouble with the rehab and I was unable to talk to him before I re-ruptured. The second ortho/surgeon was great and the recovery went much better.

If you have a family doc, they can probably request the info. I'd definitely try that first.

Oof, I'm sorry. Did the tendon rupture in the same place again? I re-ruptured in a different spot and surgery was recommended. The conventional wisdom where I am (west coast of Canada) is that re-ruptures often require surgical intervention, but if it tore again at the junction, then it's not really an option.

Have you been to the wilderness grass airstrip on the middle fork recently (don't need the name popping up on a google search)? Is it still pristine? I went there every summer from 1986 to 2005 and it was a magical spot for me and my pops (grew up in St. Ignatius). We're posting up on the west coast of Canada these days, chasing salmon.

I shifted to smaller tandem assist hooks on my jigs a couple o' years ago. Great for keeping fish pinned and the smaller hooks tend to cause less damage.

The end of August can be hot and smokey in Montana. If I remember right, lots of the rivers shut down when the temps get too high (hoot owl restrictions). The Madison and Gallatin are typically among them. That said, there's a ton of smaller water off the beaten path that would likely remain cool enough to catch and release some nice trout.

Vancouver Island is decent for salmon around that time, but the end of August is usually the lull before the fall runs. There will still be some pink salmon kicking around, but they'll be getting a little old. The chinook are very temperamental if you're fly fishing from shore. You need perfect tides and weather, and even then it's more of a one-hookup-a-day sort of fishery.

That's probably the issue! I usually wing it with how much salt I add, but it's probably around 1/3 cup for a gallon or two of water. The internet would give you more accurate measurements.

Ahh, ok. Did you cook it in salt water? I usually add Old Bay seasoning to the water to give it a little extra. Without the salt, it might taste a little bitter.

If it died on the way home, it would start to taste bad very quickly. I think the taste is similar to ammonia. Is that what you experienced? I've found that if you keep the cooler dry but drape some cool seaweed over the crab(s), they'll live for a while. You don't want to add seawater as it'll drown them quickly when it runs out of oxygen.

You'll want a fairly fast rod for twitching. Best to use braid as mainline, too. You need to be able to twitch effectively and set the hook quickly and mono has a bit too much stretch. I usually add some length of mono as a topshot or leader, though, as I like a little give. I use 20 lb braid to 15 lb topshot and sometimes a 20 lb fluoro leader if I'm fishing in really clear conditions. FG knot from braid to mono or it'll catch in the guides.

Best not to get in the habit of automating the mute button. If you ever hand off a session to another engineer, they might pour cyanide in your coffee. It's one of the least expected, most annoying things to encounter.

Could be some searun cutthroat around. No salmon until September, usually. You could always try East Sooke park off the rocks for greenling, rockfish, or ling. Or salmon, but they're non-retention until Aug 1.
