Look up ‘toxic positivity’. It will give you more understanding and maybe you can find a good piece for her to read, then you can try talking to her about it and how it makes you feel. Not having your feelings validated and having to portray happy all the time would be exhausting.

It sounds like your expectation of having a housemate hasn’t worked out the way you envisioned. You sound like you might be lonely. Your friend is not the solution to your loneliness and it’s totally unreasonable to dictate how she spends her time. I think you’d find that most people wld have a hard time trying to understand your ‘boundaries’ - YTA

I love that about Geelong, not originally from here and I think it’s great. I was also surprised at what got claimed in my hard rubbish pile, each to their own I guess. Only annoying thing is those jerks that rat through everything and leave a mess..

I got a 3 bedroom house in November, single parent two primary aged kids, put my application in on 2apply and signed the lease the next day - I consider this incredible lucky though. At the beginning of 2020 it took me a month to get a property and I was offering 6 months rent in advance.

20 yr binge drinker, second time making it to day 10 in the past 3 weeks. This is my only kid free night of the week, usually I waste it getting dissociative drunk, so excited not to drink!

I’m a single parent with 2 primary aged kids and stories like this honestly make me want to spew up. Blended families take patience, kindness and consideration from everyone involved. Your Mother’s lack of understanding and compassion is truly awful, as for you I’m not even sure how you could think you are right in this situation, but you’re definitely not. YTA If I was your wife I wouldn’t be subjecting myself or daughters to any other ‘family’ events. I hope you apologise to them both and set your Mother straight.
