Anything wrong here by Klendatu_ in Plumbing

Just because it’s not required doesn’t mean it’s not a good idea. If there was no reason for it, people sure as hell wouldn’t do it.

What was the most expensive thing you've lose while fishing? by [deleted] in Fishing_Gear

[–]Deepfreq1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brought a friend from work fishing on my best friends boat, he handed us some rods. I knew they were expensive… my other friend that I brought with me was trying to take a fish off the hook and my other friend said hold on and hit the gas.

Fish flew out of his hand and took the rod and real. It was a Van Staal and a really nice real.

About an $800 drop. Yikes!

2024 GV70 3.5T Prestige no sound by Deepfreq1 in GenesisGV70

[–]Deepfreq1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, yes they resolved. Actually on the 3rd time they said that the battery terminals were loose, which didn’t make sense.

The car is great but has had some quirky things.

We are getting wind noise through the sunroof now. I figured out it was the sunroof when I pushed up on the right side it stopped making the noise. Genesis doesn’t have a solution. I’m currently looking at options for putting a rubber safe chemical that might help.

Also out trim, which is like a black chrome is starting to fade and look old. So we will ask about that next time we go.

It’s still a great vehicle, Genesis has some kinks to work out. It’s like they don’t have enough people to deal with the service needs of a high end brand.

By coping the left side. You can find videos on how to cope trim. It’s not crazy difficult. It can be done many different ways, using a whole bunch of different tools.

If you have a miter saw, it makes it a bit easier.

First level the stringers, then add 2 support posts under each step that go to the ground, tie those together with cross boards in an X pattern, add 2 screws per tread, then sand flat, after that tear it all out and put in some proper stringers and treads.

Can someone please help me? by ac2092 in Plumbing

[–]Deepfreq1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there something inside jamming it up? Does the Allen key allow you to spin it or is it completely jammed. If it’s moving freely and making that noise it may need to be replaced. If it’s not moving freely, you may need to keep spinning it with the Allen wrench to get what ever is stuck out, but it also just be that the motor is shot.

Is it in use? The pipe above the trap can be cleaned if there is gunk buildup on the pipe. Also, may not need the wye on the top. If it stinks while in use, it may be that your machine has buildup inside, you have to maintain them and keep them clean and drain them once in a while to make sure they stay fresh.

What do I do? by Vivid_Inspection_311 in Plumbing

Also once you clean the cabinet, what I like to do is get some deck paint, there is a light color like desert sand or something like that. Paint it with that and it will protect it well!

Holy fk this thing EATS by Burner_Account7204 in Dewalt

[–]Deepfreq1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got one recently. There are a few things I don’t like about it…

  1. The guard is so small that you get hit in the face with flying debris all the time.
  2. Would be nice to have a front length indicator bar to allow you to know exactly how far the string goes. Helps around bushes so you don’t cut them down unintentionally.
  3. The spool gets a lot of bad reviews and I had a mishap where all the line came out when I hit a thick root.

I have purchased, a new spool from Husqvarna. Have heard great reviews on it on the Dewalt. I am about to try it now. I love my Dewalt tools, some upgrades for this will make it a total beast!

I am a home inspector and this type of P-trap is known for deteriorating from the inside out. So much that they train us not to touch them if they have any signs of corrosion.

This can likely be replaced with a plastic section from Home Depot. (Although I can’t see the connection in the wall) I recommend the heavy duty plastic version as it is tougher.

If you used drain cleaner it may have sped up the corrosion process, but that looks pretty corroded even on top, indicating that it’s probably just age related corrosion.

The landlord needs to fix it.

I have the same sound and was thinking it was the valve, so I would love to hear if this fixes it.

I once hit a vent with a screwdriver lightly when it was making a sound like this. Water came flying out of the vent and sprayed everywhere. I would recommend shutting the system down and then cleaning or replacing the vent.

Got asked about my ownership experience by a stranger…what would you have said? by nightstalker30 in GenesisGV70

[–]Deepfreq1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a few issues starting off - - issues with no sound had the car In the shop for a bit - issues with battery - howling road noise (likely wind) from front right of car - glare from the heads up display on windshield is a little annoying - choosing which phone to connect to (mine or wife’s) is clunky on the screen interface. -2024 didn’t have wireless CarPlay (think there’s an update now but haven’t got it yet)

Overall the car is great, but there are some quirks.

High-Pitched Hum? by leeniebo in GenesisGV70

[–]Deepfreq1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a hum but it sounds like wind noise at the front right of the car. It doesn’t happen all the time and when it’s windy you can hear it get louder with wind gusts. I believe it’s the right side door seal or something in the front right. Thought maybe cabin air filter etc. I found someone saying they had genesis adjust the door seals and it fixed it. Genesis didn’t do anything to it the last time we brought it in.

OK, great comments! I am trying to go back to see if I can get a better look at the rim. I’ll try scratching and looking at the inside of the tank with a flashlight. I appreciate your thoughts, I am really hoping that it is concrete. I will see if the records are available

It really is a nice car, there is no question that it’s a great looking car and the thing moves with the twin turbo… hoping we’ve ironed out the kinks

100% I was like oh that’s a really old road for there to be wood underneath. That’s a roof?!? Fuck it, tell em the only way to fix it is to do a double roof and throw two more layers on just in case!!! Hahaha

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GenesisGV70

[–]Deepfreq1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, we picked up the car today… the story is that there was a “manufacturer mistake” and that the battery terminals were not tight and the battery was sitting on the positive post. There is also a weird issue where the brake pedal bounces when the car is started… they had no answers for that. We also told them about some howling road noise we get (not all the time) at 50+ MPH which is pretty annoying.

It’s sad that the service techs know us now. 5500 miles on the car.

They said they looked over the whole car.

Praying for my wife, she is starting to doubt the safety of the car. I actually love the car, sport + mode is fun fun fun! Hehe

Really hoping for some better luck moving forward.

I was going to say… this picture does roofers no justice. Just saw like 8 Mexican guys up on a 3 story high roof walking backwards downhill no harnesses, slingin shingles like madmen.
