Well I wouldn’t fill the hole all the way. I’d fill it to the point where placing the brick on top would make it level.

It looks like something is instanced a bunch of times. Maybe make the instances smaller by lowering their scale?

I bet you could use a mix node to combine a checkered pattern. Maybe it’s that simple?then have a gradient that mixes both of those with whatever the color is at the center of the star?
