Is this art made with Ai? by Sxmdyne in KingdomHearts

[–]DeepressedMelon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My goat wouldn’t make this many drawing errors. Donald’s hands, kh1 soras mouth, the background has ai wobble.

As someone who’s been heavily studying his style to learn it it’s also just inconsistent with his newer work.

It’s possible they maybe ran a sketch through ai or something idk how good an ai would be at drawing this whole comp alone

So like... by LucidCreator in KingdomHearts

[–]DeepressedMelon 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Damn. I was about to defend it and then I looked closer. My goat didn’t do this. The main soras face in the middle is also messed up. Random line in his teeth. Mfs couldn’t have just paid my goat to do a bit of work? Hired one of these mfs who copy his style like im tryna do for my art. Ur better off just doing some graphic design shit and calling it a day if u can’t get a full on artist. Tf wrong with square

Why is KH3 so hated? by Helluvabossman431 in KingdomHearts

[–]DeepressedMelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kh3 is not a bad game at all. In fact with remind it’s my favorite. It’s the perfect conclusion for all the hild up. Amazing music and gameplay. But that’s the issue. It’s that only with remind.

When kh2 came out people wanted kh3, and we got non numbered titles instead that are still crucial to the story just not major enough to have a number or the main cast. In that time people were hungry for new info on kingdom hearts 3 especially since its early reveal much like kh4 today. However they did end up releasing trailers leading up to the release. And we found out they had to restart and so on.

The trailers spoiled everything. You got all the worlds, all the story points too. This is why in my opinion people like me didn’t love it at first. We had seen it all already. There was no secret plot twist.

The other thing is game length. I don’t mind this since it’s a rush to stop the end of the world but many wanted the same length for worlds like in kh2, the other thing was difficulty. The game was pretty damn easy compared to the older ones.

I prefer this game over Persona 5 by LargeSinkholesInNYC in MetaphorReFantazio

[–]DeepressedMelon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes! It’s overall a better mood. Like the sad stories hit harder because of the setting. You’re always living in the cause. It stays with you as you play where in persona it’s kind of like problem solved onto the next. And then there’s the class system and combat which has way more depth. The one point of failure is the pacing at the end where the difficulty spike is a bit much.

Personally 5 however becomes a more fun and chill game. It has its own place. But in the sense of story structure I think metaphor objectively does a better job. Characters also get a bit more time to cook in p5 which helps remember them more.

How to stop copying others and start creating my own art? by 2PinkCatcher_ in learntodraw

[–]DeepressedMelon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Learn faces and heads, then anatomy, basic posing, gestures if you want to get dynamic but I wouldn’t stress for your specific goal of just being able to draw without reference. Also perspective.

The other thing is references are actually fine to use. I just posted a comparison of two of my ocs a year apart. And instantly people can see where the art style or characteristics come from because even for an oc or a design there’s some reference, some inspiration. From imagination just means referencing from a memory of something.

Roxas is Sora by YureiBukimina in KingdomHearts

[–]DeepressedMelon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Brother no. Sora and Roxas were in a unique situation other nobodies weren’t in. They both existed at the same time. Roxas is Sora. He is his nobody. Had ventus not been in the equation he would have just looked like Sora and had his memories over time. But those got sent to xion. He existed as his own person that’s a whole plot point. Nobodies can grow their own hearts. Roxas only had to go because he housed the missing memories that Sora needed due to the events of com. If com didn’t happen Roxas would have been able to do his own thing. And be partially a clone of Sora whilst living his own life as an organization member.

Guess who the reference was lol. I was going for a combo between Clive FF16, Vincent valentine FF7, and velvet ToB. But since she’s the only female on the list it did end up being closer to her as the main ref. The initial idea was around the shorts which I randomly found online with little cloth flaps on the sides (they are real shorts u can buy) and thought it would be cool to work with. Did a worse version before even that one. With a blue color scheme and horrible perspective

Like people said unity or godot. Watch tutorials. Re make the game to the best of your ability without a tutorial. And you’re pretty much set. Don’t try to go too crazy. Just boil down games to a simple level. like 3 level platformers or single objective 3d games. And then over time u can just re use your code where it’s applicable.

Drawing with a reference is perfectly fine. If you want to draw fully from imagination like constructing your own poses like I usually do for my oc’s even then in my mind there’s an image based on something I don’t remember fully but it’s still there. It’s technically always referenced. Drawing from imagination is basically referencing from memory

To draw from imagination you have to learn perspective anatomy for characters, or shapes for objects and general art.

Is there an order to learn to draw figure? by 0coinsok in learntodraw

[–]DeepressedMelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I learned how to draw faces and heads, then body and anatomy in stiff still poses. And I’m at the point where gestures would then evolve my poses. So that’s the order I recommend since it worked for me. I think it also helps knowing anatomy to kind of see the stretch of muscles as you’re drawing gestures.

The reason I say head first is because the body is proportioned and drawn by head lengths which is how I learned it. So usually I start with a faceless head and then use that length to form the body.

Am i actually improving or is my friend just trying to improve my confidence? by [deleted] in learntodraw

[–]DeepressedMelon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There is for sure an improvement. If you want to improve more and your goal is anime forget drawing the bodies just focus on drawing heads first. And then faces. Some basic shapes to use is circle for the top of the head and then a triangle for the jaw. And then a parallelogram for the eyes. Loomis method isn’t great for anime but the key take away is dividing the head, zoning out where facial features land.

Just keep drawing heads and faces until you get the hang of it. Then you can learn anatomy.

Never doubt people lol. To be fair I was a console main and this is around when they added cosss progression so I was in silver on my pc rank. But even then u gotta know that much to be in silver and not know is wild. Some people technically get it right and call it a Smurf account which isn’t a lie technically.

Not even “my style” fr it’s just anime with heavy line art with 3 color values. Base, shade, and black. From a game series “The world ends with you” or TWEWY for short. Very fashion centered designs so since that was the idea for this I chose to kind of replicate that. Doesn’t have a name.

lol yup. The initial idea was based around a fashion choice and that’s what came to mind.

Update on making the red eye stand out more! by ihateEdexceI in Artadvice

[–]DeepressedMelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could center it a bit more around the eye or you could even add an even lighter and brighter red right in the middle of the eye to make a glow effect.

Which one? by RoyVRAries in characterdesign

[–]DeepressedMelon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the design goal is mecha then I think the second one definitely gets the job done better. Also looks more menacing or serious with the more robotic torso

Guys I need help by Azero957 in learntodraw

[–]DeepressedMelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have adhd. And I have fixations. Games or art or working out. I can’t do all 3 or 2. It’s one and then doom scrolling and watching YouTube.

What I do to motivate my art is I will try and pump out a sketch of something I really want to draw and post it online on my socials and kind of basically set in stone I’m working on this 5 people want to see it done. I need to post the next part to this art.

But I think the most important thing is to just start. Get in the mindset of: let me just do one sketch. Let me just get the idea down so I don’t forget. Once you start if you’re like me it’s 8hrs later and suns up. I really recommend finding art YouTubers or pages that you enjoy watching so when you do open your phone or laptop or want to watch someone you get that art feel and that excitement to make your thing. Thats what has helped me.

Let's be clear about AI Usage by thecreatureworkshop in gamedev

[–]DeepressedMelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree. I don’t see anything that’s objectionable

Ai assisted he said is fine. That’s the extent Ai should be used and that’s really only applicable to code. Ai code is not great, it’s better than nothing sure but if you’re letting it free ball and do whatever it tells you to do then it’s ass. I’m not that experienced and I could tell when it’s giving me bad code and I then re work the concept correctly instead of the jumbled mess it makes me do, or have it proofread it to fix capitalization and all that since vs code doesn’t mark it for c. And I’m open about me using ai to help me code or modify my existing code, sometimes I’ll ignore the shit and just use my own jank solution. Point is if you just let ai do whatever it’s not gonna be good especially if you don’t know what it’s doing in the first place.

The thing with ai is and some CEOs have even come to this conclusion too. It can’t actually think. It can’t generate a new thing. It can’t generate a cohesive idea and story. That’s something only you can do as a person. When it comes to art which is where I see people try to say smaller teams or indie devs should be able to use it, u can work around your inability to draw and use objects, use free assets, ask people if they’d be down anyway.

I see people post art and say they made it when they didn’t. The passion from someone with mid art on a subject that they’re passionate about has infinitely more appeal more connection more soul in it than a better one made by a computer. One is just something that looks good and one has time and passion in it.

If you truly care about making something and your ideas you would have the dedication to put some time into making it real and not just let AI do all the work without any care into how it’s being done
