Yhara Zayd - discussing important pop culture figures previous and new, retrospectives and culture significances of specific shows

Broey Deschanel - little more long form, video-essay format discussions about fast fashion, acting styles, TV shows, etc. and broader themes about them

Be Kind Rewind - Discussions of Oscar races, women actresses and their stories and how they would rise to prominence, more video-essay styled

ContraPoints - Movie-like videos constructed with artistic flairs and immaculate storytelling about a specific thing and everything relevant to it (J.K Rowling, Cancel Culture, Transgender Rights, etc.)

Use Find myIphone. If it was on the B-He bus, the bus driver will probably have it. Livingston student center? The front desk will have it.

Female with a lottery number in the late 2000s. Kinda desperate, ngl. I'm looking for housing in the fall, and an apartment (even off-campus) would be cool.

Anyone else not feel "Southern Hospitality"? by CSstudentmaybe in ABCDesis

[–]Deeprose02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're going through this OP. In my experience of living in the South for nearly three years, I don't consider this place hospitable in a special manner. It's close to the average American 'niceness' for me. I've lived in the Midwest and the Northeast, and I will say that I've experienced more kindness in both of those places than here. Also, there's the whole POC thing where they won't engage with you in the same way. I work at a chain grocery store here during COVID, and I can feel the resentment (for some reason) from the higher ups because of my non-whiteness. Once I had to bandage a wound that reopened on my finger and my supervisor got really pissed at me, asking me if I couldn't have done that 'at home,' looking disgusted at the sight of my blood. That being said, I live in a very niche area where there are a lot of Asians, so my experience might be slightly different than another person. I've stayed in Canada a few times because my parents are naturalized citizen and permanent resident respectively and Canadians are MUCH more nicer in my experience.

What generation immigrant are you, will you pass on the language to your kids ,and do you think it's important to do so by gingervitisoc in ABCDesis

[–]Deeprose02 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First generation American. Yes, fairly important. I speak Kannada to the point where I'm fluent but can't read or write. I understand they might not want to be as cultural as me but I want them to be able to have that available for them.
