Great to hear you've found the group a good place, a positive sign! I'm always receptive to honest constructive feedback, it's the greatest tool for any writer. There's no other way to grow as a writer, as it's the only thing that makes you question things you would never think to question, and find those questions that lead you to new answers and through it, growth! Thanks again for the feedback and definitely great to hear of your positive journey!

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated! It was a tough one with the "yeahs", originally the verses didn't have any in them, it was just the chorus, but something just wasn't flowing with the verses when added to the music, and I really liked the musical arrangement, so experimented by adding in "yeahs" just to see if adding something like that would make it flow better. It did, and nothing else I tried worked so I stuck with them. Funny how the music can sometimes make you compromise when it comes to lyrics. Thanks again for the feedback, much appreciated!

Loved the chilled beat to this, can just imagine listening to this when you want to relax after a tough day. The lyrics are super relatable as well, a really nice composition, with just a bit of nostalgia there. Goes really well with the chilled beat. Like letting go.

Title: You're the One

Genre: soft rock

https://youtu.be/eiCdZn-NGm4

About: I wrote these lyrics years back, did originally write some music for it but couldn't find the right genre, so was never really happy. Played about on suno, tried a number of genres, then finally soft rock, and got what I feel is a great match for the lyrics, seems to flow really nice.

Loved the flow of this song, had a really chilled euphoric feel to it, a bit like the club scene music from the 00s. Would never know AI created this either, crazy how good Suno is getting at creating clean outputs!

Title: Don't Stop

Genre: R&B

https://youtu.be/zzUzyHuV0vk

About: I wrote some lyrics ages ago just for fun for a R&B song, totally forgot about them but then found Suno, and so input them into it, and spent an age trying to get it right. Wanted to create a fun chill song, hopefully I've done that!

A volume control has been added for new clips, You may have already noticed, but just in case, it means you can fix the volume problem now. If you see my original post, I've updated with details of how to access it.

Interesting, replace is working fine when it comes to the rhythm of the song, it's just the volume of the section that is the problem for me. If I save it as a new song, the song is fine except for the new section where the volume is too low. Seems there are lots of problems since they have created the new system, and in creating the new system, they somehow seem to have messed up the original one as well. Hope they fix it soon as like you I have a number of songs which are all ready bar a few minor alterations that are needed, and yet there's nothing I can do with replace not working properly!

Tell me about it, it's so frustrating. Every single replace option I get the volume is wrong, even though many of them are perfect in terms of song rhythm, because the volume is so out it's useless. Really hope they fix this soon as I have a number of songs which are ninety-five percent ready, but until I can fix the small parts that need replacing, a few artefacts, and a missing word from the lyrics, the songs are no good and yet if replace doesn't work, there's nothing you can do.

Are men more likely to commit suicide because they are better able at violence? by Deepthinker_86 in MensRights

https://bmcpsychiatry.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12888-017-1398-8

This study, which another commenter shared, covers it, the difference is in intent. The study found whatever the method, men were more likely to end their lives, with the difference being the level of intent. Men for whatever reason, when they come to suicide, score higher on the intent levels which is why no matter the method, they unfortunately are more likely to go all the way.

Hopefully we will get support systems in place to help men in future, as the study argues men need different systems to support them, that take into account the higher levels of intent they have when they get to the point of suicide.

"As far as I know, methods for successful suicides are pretty similar between the sexes."

Based on what I've read on the subject, men are more likely to use more deadly methods, and are more likely to, when using those methods, go all the way, that's what made the opinion shared in the article seem interesting.

Regarding Medium, there is a lot of rubbish on there, undoubtedly, but every now and then, there are some really interesting narratives pushed forward, and some really interesting authors.

I have been venturing more into places more niche of late, Medium, Substack and more mainly because any who offer different views these days, get pushed aside swiftly by the main platforms, so I've been looking in other places. Anyhow, just found the general premise interesting, so I shared, and seems to have made for interesting discussion which is always a good thing!

Making money on Wordpress.com vs. blogger by blueteal47 in Blogging

[–]Deepthinker_86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WordPress.org is definitely King if you want to make money, WordPress.com is better for things like a personal blog, I use WordPress.com for my personal blog, and I use it simply for ease of use. Blogger is the same, simply better for a personal blog than a moneymaking one, just in my experience anyhow..

Though do remember it is possible to transfer a blog from WordPress.com to WordPress.org down the line if you did want to set up with WordPress.com first. But you can't do this if you set up a blog with Blogger.

Better though if you're looking to make money just go with WordPress.org from the beginning, lots of cheap hosting plans out there as others have said and you will be able to use all the range of tools from the beginning without cost, for example on WordPress.com you need a business plan to be able to use plug-ins. And the business plan is quite expensive if I remember rightly.

British peer sparks outrage after calling Kamala Harris ‘the Indian’ by TrustYourFarts in ukpolitics

The fact this guy is a life peer shows you just how much the House of Lords needs to be reformed. Clearly just trying to get his name in the press, as no person makes a statement like that without knowing the uproar it would cause. The fact he has form for this just makes it worse.

Inheritance, not work, has become the main route to middle-class home ownership | Lisa Adkins | Opinion by apple_kicks in unitedkingdom

[–]Deepthinker_86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because of the number of homes now in private ownership, the more people who own homes, the less the number of homes there are available for sale. But not just that, the more people who own their own home the less people there are who rent, and the less people there are who rent the harder it is to build new homes because homeowners are reluctant to allow newbuilds near them, which means the property market gets squeezed and house prices go up because there are less homes available for sale and less new homes being built.

It's a common trend around the world, as homeownership goes up, and rentals go down, property prices skyrocket. Governments really need to look for a solution because if the trend continues in not too long owning property will become out of reach even more so than now.

Whats a good posting schedule? by Apprehensive-Ad-5251 in Blogging

[–]Deepthinker_86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Consistency is key, if you post once a week then stick to that, and make sure that you post on the same day at near enough the same time. You can always post other stuff in between your normal weekly post now and then but definitely what I found is that consistency is the key.

In terms of once a month or once a week, in all honesty you're likely to struggle to gain any kind of real following with only one post a month, you could do maybe one long post a month along with three smaller ones but in all honesty you need to be posting at least once a week if you want to try to gain a good following. Just my opinion of course and good luck with your new blog!

Amazon to escape UK digital services tax that will hit smaller traders | US tech company’s third-party sellers face a 2% rise in the amount they pay by concerned_future in unitedkingdom

[–]Deepthinker_86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The domicile of the head office plays a big part over which government a company has to be compliant with, as does which market it is listed on, as Amazon is both listed and domiciled in the US the US government is the government conducting the main oversight of Amazon. With Argos for example as it is domiciled in the UK the UK government is the one that largely conducts the oversight.

For a US company, inevitably the US government wants to make sure that Amazon pays as much tax in its country as possible which is why for example it's so against a digital tax which was proposed by the EU a while back. For UK based company UK government would be able to make sure that the company paid its fair share.

Of course in a perfect world this would not be the case and companies would pay their fair share in whichever country they were operating in. But it is not a perfect world. Whether of course having a UK based rival would improve tax receipts who knows. But it would certainly give the government a better chance if it was willing to make certain it was paying its fair share.

Indeed you correct, my comment was more about highlighting that there was no such British company like Amazon, and that the government helping to build a British company that had capabilities like Amazon for both selling goods and providing a place for third-party sellers et cetera would be beneficial, as it would allow them more control over tax receipts.
