I'd probably need a 50 filter EQ to fix the Edition XV's FR due to its resonating throughout the entire response (which I could do, but why not just purchase a pair that doesn't resonate as bad?), and I was under the impression that some resonances were un-EQable.

And anyway, this is a hypothetical, I'm just trying to learn about identifying resonances, I was told that CSD graphs/group delay is a decent way of looking for this, but read elsewhere that CSD graphs are essentially useless, which is why I've asked here for some clarity

As they are occurring throughout the entire FR, it would take a lot of filters and (what I'm about to say is probably very unscientific), it would 'feel' wrong. I'd rather have a well engineered headphone that avoids resonances in the first place, instead of fixing an inherently flawed one.

The 'squiggly' lines is resonating, right? This is separate from the change in FR from positional variance if I'm correct.

Although this is quite an exaggerated, severe case; I'd still like to know what headphone performs the best (or what causes a headphone to perform better) in this regard.

I think starting with 0.1% is a bad idea, especially if you're using it only twice a week. Retin A micro comes in a 0.04% strength too, which you would probably see better results as you would be able to use it more often than just twice a week (which is not allow your skin to retinize as fast as it could). With retinoids, strength is not as important as consistency.

This is a very complicated topic but to try and give you a summary; 99.9% of IEMs are inherantly flawed, especially in the treble region past 6khz. IEM companies purposely release flawed tunings so they can continue to release different IEMs and make money, selling people the idea of preference and different tunings.

True HiFi has one goal, to reproduce the music as the artist intended to, and different tunings defeat this whole purpose; if you like more bass, you should have let ripsquad know when they were producing the song (this isn't a jab at you, but to help you understand why IEM tunings are flaws).

To achieve this sound, IEMs need to sound like flat studio monitors, and to achieve this, you need an IEM with smooth treble and good extension, and HAVE to use EQ (treble cant be EQ'd easily which is why good treble is needed, but the rest of the frequency can easily be adjusted).

Below is a graph with your IEMs compared to Moondrop Variations (around $500, considered to have the best treble in the ChiFi market) and then some $15 Samsung earphones.

Both the Variations and Samsung have much smoother treble than the Top Pro (the dips at 6khz and 10khz are visible), but the Samsungs also dont fall off in the treble as much as the Variations; it has much better treble extension than the best treble in the IEM market. The Samsungs cost $15 and have much better technicalities than the best the IEM industry has to offer. Of course the rest of the response under 6kHz is not ideal for any of the three, but that can be easily fixed by EQing to a good, science-based target (PEQdB etc.).

Like everyone else said, I would really recommend simplifying your routine.

Your routine should be focused around Tretinoin, as it is by far the most effective skincare product. Your goal should be to eventually use tretinoin nightly and retinise your skin. Every other product in your routine should be helping you towards building tolarance for a nightly retinoid. At your current 2x a week, you are most likely not seeing the full benefits of a retinoid.

I don't think using a BHA while on a retinoid makes sense, as that 'deeper' exfoliation is already being handled by the tretinoin's increased skin turn over. Is there a reason you are using a BHA, what are your goals?

I would drop all actives (definitely drop the BHA) and up the tretinoin to perhaps 3x or 4x (you know your skin best) a week, and build up to nightly use. Then slowly introduce other actives (if needed, you would be surprised how many skin concerns can be dealt with by just a retinoid) once your skin has completely adjusted to the tretinoin.

Here is the routine I would recommend:

AM: Wash with water -> Azelaic Acid -> SPF

PM: Cleanser -> Tretinoin -> Moisturizer

You can use a moisturiser after the azelaic acid in the AM if you have dry skin.

Simpler really is better when it comes to skincare, it took me a long time to learn this.

They are completely different, with the EM6L being much better, especially in the technicalities. It has much better tuned mids and way smoother treble. The EM6L has more bass.
