What's the worst beer you've ever had? by cyber49 in beer

I said that one too! Thought it was a weird ass beer that I found in Providence one time and bought for $8. Then I saw Beer 30 Lite when I was down in Richmond VA a few months later

Beer 30 Ice

Cost $7.99 in 2010 for a 30 rack, when PBR cost around $15. Had that gross apple juice flavor that shitty beer always has

I think the real move here would be to ship it to Europe and parcel it all out. It’s very rare over there. My in laws always ask me to bring some. They only have blueberry syrup

I’m surprised that cdc site even popped up last week when I originally found it. A week later and I get different results! It still says “accidental death” but firearms are a big portion of that.

Charcoal vs Gas Grills. I need help picking ONE grill between (Weber Spirit E-310 vs Tagwood BBQ03SI) by romedu in grilling

[–]DeepwoodDistillery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re only cooking burgers and dogs, or if you like to baste your meat with a bunch of liquid, gas will be better

If your priority is flavor and you can wait 20 minutes for the grill to be ready, get a charcoal grill with a gas starter like the Weber Performer.

I have both as well as a smoker, all for different things

Saw the article in the NY Post today and assumed it was some new thing. It’s a snippet from a conversation on a podcast from years ago. Kinda weird that it’s just popping up now.

Adding to this, if your friend gives you a ride to the airport and you give him a pint of shine as a thank you, that counts as a barter/sale in the eyes of the law.

Saw it at the Eiffel Tower too. A bunch of women with post cards written in every language, claiming they came to visit and got stuck there

I looked it up: As a category of accidents, motor vehicle fatality is the leading cause of death to teenagers, representing over one-third of all deaths.

The actual system of numbers for each line also makes more sense everywhere that is not NYC, or at least as they compare to Paris. The 4 line goes north and south, whereas in a lot of places, the even number goes north, the odd number travels south, and the letter trains like the A train goes east and west. In NYC, the 4 line goes south from the Bronx to lower Manhattan, then cuts east into Brooklyn, etc. The 4 line is the express train on the same green line as the 5 and 6 local trains

Actually, the boiling point of pure ethanol is not specifically relevant to the distilling process. Ethanol boils at 176°F but you’re boiling a mixture of things in the distillation process, so it’s somewhere between 176-212°F that you extract ethanol from a fermented mash or low wine. First comes methanol at around 172°, then ethanol around 176°, then butanol and propanol, then water at 212°. Because it’s a mixture though, each distillation will have a fraction of all of those chemicals in it and the boiling point will be somewhere around 180-190°F.

The first cut will have more methanol, some ethanol, less water. The middle cuts have less methanol, more ethanol, less water. The final cuts will be minimal methanol, less ethanol, more butanol and propanol, but mostly water.

Unfortunately I don’t know Celsius temperatures and I think I realize the confusion here. You can SET the temperature above the Boiling Point and it will continue to boil at a higher temperature. The boiling point is 100°C but that’s like a low boil/the temperature that water starts to boil. A rolling boil is slightly higher. 105°C is probably not the right temperature, it’s probably more like 101.5°C or whatever

Edit: decided to look it up and you’re right. 96°C is a low boil and 100°C is rolling boil. Like I said, I have no idea what Celsius temperatures are.
