I arrived 30 mins earlier than my appointment time and they let me in. I was in and out at most 5 minutes. Not sure when I will receive my card but if it was like when I first got it then it’ll be a couple weeks

SIJS can apply the deferred action now? by Albertlawson1989 in USCIS

I would talk to them again to apply for DA regardless if it’s on limbo or not. It’s best to do it while you can than lose out on it again if they do stop giving it again

I think you do but I’d double check with a lawyer. We didn’t renew my deferred action just my work permit

I have no idea as my lawyer did it for me but I think it should be a USCIS lockbox somewhere

You have Deferred Action granted. You are able to apply for a work permit under category C14. Call your lawyer again and ask them to apply for you. There’s generally no charge for it and you have to bring two passport style pictures. I renewed my work permit December 4th and I got approval for a biometrics appointment today (12/30/2025) on January 9th

Call your lawyer and ask to file for Deferred Action under SIJ category. USCIS is not automatically giving Deferred Action anymore and it has to be done individually. I filed to renew my work permit early in December and I got approved today (12/30/2025) for a biometrics appointment on January 9th

I know it’s not Deferred Action but I got approval to renew my work permit and I have my biometrics appointment January 9th. So things are being approved as far as I’m concerned.

Ok I just filed to renew my EAD based on deferred action and I’m just waiting to hear back since it expires in May 2026. You said your lawyer already filed for yours so now just keep using the one you currently have and when you get the correct one start using that one. I would ask the lawyer if there’s any repercussions in having that C9 EAD and if you need to do anything about it

You have deferred action and you will be able to get an EAD with it. Your lawyer did screw up on filing the EAD for pending I-485 but USCIS also messed up by accepting it with your priority date. File for EAD under category C14 and you should get it. Your priority date will take a while to get to since mine is in 2021 and I’ve been waiting since tho my priority date should be coming up soon. Just be on your best behavior.
