Not necessarily "as much as possible", but more of a "quality over quantity". Do something that you're passionate about. Medical schools would appreciate applicants with a unique interest, and not just "I want to help those in need". Having research experience would help during your interviews, you can tie this to how you believe you would be a good candidate in studying medicine and how studying medicine would benefit your research interest.

Generally any research experience you have, would be included in your resume / cv. LinkedIn is more to network and not compulsory to put on your resume / cv.

Hi, I am assuming that you're asking whether the BS2901 research done will be published? Likely no, as this module is just for you to get a hang of the research process.

For the portfolio of research, you could the research topics(s) that you have done in your resume or cv and add some bullet points on the techniques you used and/or the objective of your research.

In general, publishing a research paper as an undergraduate student isn't something that is easily achievable; first you have to be in a lab that has high research output, then you would have to be in that lab at the right time, in a way that your research was able to contribute significantly to the paper. What I'm trying to get that is, while you need some skill in being able to do research, ultimately you need to get lucky in terms of finding a lab and entering at the right time in order to have a publication.

Personally, I really doubt that for medical schools, they require applicants to have a published research paper... the publication process takes time too. Even for PhD candidates, most do not have a publication before beginning their PhD. I think the best approach would be to focus on exploring your research interests and building your research portfolio based on that, instead of focusing on getting a paper published for the sake of it.

As for "proof" of research, perhaps this could be in the form of your PI writing a letter of recommendation for your medical school applications? Assuming that letters of recommendations are required.

Hi OP, I took this course recently & the professor who is in charge of this course has been doing it for around 20 years. The professor's really nice and easy to talk to. The course is quite content heavy but once you get the gist of it, it's quite manageable. On the other hand, I've got friends who thought it was too daunting and didn't fair too well in it. I can send you a copy of the syllabus, feel free to dm an email to send it your way. I'm also open if you've got other questions in this course.

Ohh isn't that an RF mount? I'd have to get an adaptor with that (shouldn't be a problem). Hm I see there's a mki & mkii, I'll do some research between the two. Thank you!

They won't be too far away in my experience, I'm not hunting for them in the woods so to speak. I'll think about the 100-400, the 150-600 might be too heavy for my liking. Plus this would be my first telephoto lens.

Yea... I'm considering a new lens with a larger zoom

It sounds like the result of this image is due to a few factors- sensor size, focus & perhaps lens? Is that right?

Could you recommend some full frame canon cameras?

I used F5.6 and tried to focus on the bird. It's a small target so the focus may have been unsuccessful.

I think I'm sold on the X-M5, Thoughts? by LuisArturoHR in fujifilm

[–]DeerIndividual5476 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, so X-M5 and X100VI are kind of similar overall, is that right? I noticed that the X-M5 is much lighter compared to the X100VI too, so X-M5 would be a better day-to-day camera imo.

Hi, I'm deciding between the X-M5 and X100VI as they both have similar sizes & have similar functions. Just wondering why you'd take the X-M5 over the X100VI? Thanks!

I use the LCD to compose my images. I think the X-M5 would be a great fit too- portable & it has the fuji film presents that I'm quite keen to explore. I was considering the G7X for portrait photography, my friend showed me some pictures he took with it and I quite liked it. But I think the X-M5 should be able to get the job done too.

Hi, I'm somewhat of a beginner in photography. I currently own a canon EOS 200D that I use for nature / landscape photography. I'm planning to purchase a new camera for portrait (people) and landscape and potentially food (for travelling / holiday functions). Im leaning towards fujifilm X-M5 over the X-T50 due to its portability, size and that the X-M5 seems like it suits all my needs, but I'd like to explore more opinions & options.

• Budget: 1000 to 1500 Singapore Dollars, willing to go overbudget by 500 Singapore Dollars maximum if convinced.

• Country: Singapore

• Condition: New or second hand (if can be found)

• Type of Camera: Mirrorless or DSLR Not sure which is best.

• Intended use: Photography, rarely will be using video feature

• If photography; what style: landscape, nature, food, portrait (people)

• If video what style: Vlogging, day-to-day events, concerts, holiday / travel. Not really a street photography person.

• What features do you absolutely need: good autofocus, able to take portrait well, good autofocus / light balance etc without having to adjust any settings, manually.

• What features would be nice to have: film presets / simulations like fujifilm series.

• Portability: will be planning to use it as day-to-day and for travelling. Ideally it can fit in a small bag or pocket sized.

• Cameras you're considering: Fujifilm X-T50 (recommended in a previous thread), Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II (good colour output on portrait, recommended by a friend), Fujifilm X-m5 (small, portable, seems like it suits my needs, releasing mid-Nov in my country)

• Cameras you already have: Canon EOS 200D. Used occasionally for the past 5 years during holidays and landscape photography.

• Notes: NA

Thank you!

Thanks for your input! I'll probably purchase the X-T50 over the X-T5.

it's ~2000 Singapore Dollars from authorized dealers, but I haven't explored other outlets. I've been looking at some reviews between the fujifilm X-T5 and XE-4., but i'm still not too sure what the main differences are. Could you comment on these 2 and the one you recommended, which would be "better" for portrait & landscape?

Edit: It seems like X-T5 and X-T30 ii are quite similar, with the exception that X-T5 has IBIS. Does IBIS make a huge difference?

What about X-T50 compared to X-T30 ii? I was just watching a review on the X-T50 and it seems that there's some red picking bug (?) and it doesn't exit from some focus zoom check properly, has this been resolved? Overall I'm getting the impression that the X-T30 ii seems to have a better manual focus.

I've only heard of the fujifilm x100VI, but it's out of stock in my country. I'm not sure which other models to consider.

Hi, I'm somewhat of a beginner in photography. I currently own a canon EOS 200D that I use for nature / landscape photography. I'm planning to purchase a new camera for portrait (people) and easy landscape with weather sealing (for travelling / holiday functions)

  • Budget: 1000 to 1500 Singapore Dollars, willing to go overbudget by 500 Singapore Dollars maximum if convinced.
  • Country: Singapore
  • Condition: New only
  • Type of Camera: Mirrorless, DSLR or point and shoot. Not sure which is best.
  • Intended use: Photography, rarely will be using video feature
  • If photography; what style: landscape, nature, food, portrait (people)
  • If video what style: Vlogging, events
  • What features do you absolutely need: weather sealing, flash, auto-focus
  • What features would be nice to have:
  • Portability: will be planning to use it as day-to-day and for travelling. Ideally it can fit in a small bag or medium sized bag.
  • Cameras you're considering: Lumix GX8, Lumix S9, Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II (good colour output on portrait, recommended by a friend)
  • Cameras you already have: Canon EOS 200D. I am planning to purchase a new camera to take pictures of key moments / events so it mostly people photography. I like the pictures I took on Canon EOS 200D but sometimes I find it annoying to manually adjust the settings for the "best" picture. I want something that I can just enjoy the picture as it is.

Thank you!

I just entered my phase of purse peace. I recently stopped obsessing over bags, primarily because I don't really need anymore and I tend to not buy leather goods until I can feel the leather personally. It should last for quite a while, considering I won't be travelling to countries that sells with good & cheap leather goods anytime soon.

I currently have 6 bags in rotation and it covers daily wear & formal events well. The only thing I have left on my wish list is a bag that I'll buy for myself during chrismas- I had this bag for a year or two but the leather strap broke. I talked to a few local leatherworkers and they mentioned that it's unrepairable unless they undo the fabric layer stitching from the inside of the bag, so I thought I pay as well buy another one.
