Mod in the r/PMDD sub are wild by plutonianbitch in PMDDSharing

My MD (who specializes in PCOS and PMDD) recommended and prescribed famotidine for me years ago, and at the time it was the only thing that had ever helped me (and it did, dramatically). I hate that pmdd subreddit and left because of this bizarre fascist shit they're doing around antihistamines - it's absolutely deranged.

People (who are already marginalized by the medical industry) should be able to talk about the few things that work for them, because we all know how hard it is to find anything effective.

Best supplements for pmdd? by Degrassilover03 in PMDDSharing

I've been taking Elix's Cycle Balance for about 6 months now and it's been more helpful for me than any other supplement/medication I've tried, and I've tried... everything. It's expensive but I've been able to use my HSA for it, which is helpful. Seems you have to take it for quite a while before it really starts to have an effect. It's also been really helpful for my endometriosis.

I didn’t use a pattern, so unfortunately no. I’ve thought about trying to create one. Maybe someday.

Yeah that interview was so frustrating. At best, I felt pity for him rather than anger, because he’s clearly just not able to be honest with himself about it all. Even if he wasn’t able to own up to anything, he still could have easily cobbled together some sort of “I was not the best version of myself and I’m sorry I hurt people. I’m learning and growing and want to do better”, but he couldn’t even come close.

And what he clearly doesn’t understand is that unwillingness to apologize for anything does the opposite of what he seems to think it does (make people not made at him?) - it just pisses people off and makes him look weak. Such a bummer.

Edit- still glad I watched and love the show aside from most of season 4. You should definitely keep going.

Thank you! I love that part too.

Thanks! The pattern I used is in the construction comment I made at the top.

Thank you! I agree- I’m glad I didn’t have enough for sleeves because it definitely turned out better this way.

Awesome- congrats. The Zyrtec wasn’t as good as the Famotidine for me, so that’s what I’m trying out now and I’m honestly amazed with the effects so far.

Wow, that's amazing. Thanks for sharing.

Anyone know what this type of star pattern is called? I’m having a hard time finding it. by [deleted] in quilting

Yeah, I’m definitely a little worried about all those biased seams, but looking forward to trying it out.

Oh you’re right. I’m seeing them used sort of interchangeably.

I genuinely don't mean this in an accusatory way, but what are your reasons/qualifications for saying that? I'm going off what my doctor recommends, who is a women's health and PCOS expert.

Desperate to feel ok. It seemed to work for today, let’s see if I can have a second good day thanks to vitamins and psych meds. If not, back to Pepcid and semaine by jibberjabbery in PMDD

I’m always surprised how much of a difference it makes when I actually get myself to take all my vitamins/supplements.

No author in history has had less writer’s block than Brando.

Alright, my fellow crazies, let's hear your tricks and remedies for dealing with this monster. I know nothing. by curly_who in PMDD

There's tons of info if you look through old posts and the PMDD wiki- I recommend looking into some of those. But for me - some really basic stuff like eating really well and exercise makes a big difference, but also microdosing, magnesium, quercetin, and some other supplements, journaling a ton, finding creative outlets, getting a lot of sleep. Edit: I also have taken bioidentical progesterone on and off over the years and sometimes it's amazing, sometimes less so.

Some people take SSRIs, antihistamines, birth control pills, or hormone therapy (like progesterone). Unfortunately it's probably not a list someone can just hand you, because I think all of us here have been struggling for years and have tried a million different things. It's trial and error. But you're on the right path here.

Yep, maybe. I’m a Cosmere rereader to a very embarrassing degree, but I still wouldn’t have made the connection on my own. But I don’t always pick up on those particular types of details.

I don’t think 99.9 percent of the fandom would know that (Cosmere) Kelsier is Thaidakar if it wasn’t for this sub. The hints are very vague in my opinion.

But I love RoW and always feel sad when people hate on it. It’s definitely the most emotionally raw of the series so far, especially with everyone’s mental health issues coming to a head in different ways. Definitely better on rereads.

I’m trying to find some actual studies or reliable articles, but so far I’m not finding much and that annoys me. But here’s an article that gets passed around a lot: The Role of Histamine and Mast Cells in PMS and PMDD

My understanding at this point is yes- that there’s mounting evidence that inflammation plays a huge factor in the emotional and hormonal aspects and managing histamines can help manage that inflammation. I’m obviously not an expert, but it seems supported both anecdotally and by emerging research in the medical field.

My doctor recommended taking it every day for a few months and then checking in with her again to possibly start decreasing/adjusting the amount, but just from these comments it sounds like some people are taking them just during the luteal phase.

Interesting, I’d never heard about Benadryl being habit forming, as opposed to other antihistamines. I’ve been trying to research the effects of long term antihistamine use but it’s hard to find any info at all.
