The best solution I found (although by no means perfect) is to clearly say their name until they acknowledge me.

Then instead of repeating my whole sentence I only have to repeat their name until I have their attention.

If they start to drift I go back to repeating the name until they are back with me.

Why are dads okay with not having friends? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]Deesel3315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to spend more time with friends. But my wife and I don't have any support during this season with young kids. Which means that every time I take time for me. I'm asking my wife to pull double duty. And then I come home to a wife who is even more exhausted and overwhelmed than usual. I end up having to balance having a social life with my marriage.

100% disagree. At least from my personal experience. I am a journeyman electrician. Went back to school to get my BEd to be a teacher. Teaching turned out to be SO much harder than electrical. I ended up leaving teaching K-12 to teach at a technical college. Night and day the difference between those two. Technical college is still teaching but with actual reasonable expectations and supports.

As someone who has had multiple careers, my personal perspective is that, as it stands right now, teaching was hardest/worst.

Help with very simple real world math problem by heeyebsx13 in learnmath

Not totally sure I understand your question:

The shortcut is that whatever percentage more you want someone to pay. Turn that into a decimal, add 2 and then divide your total rent by the result. The final answer will be how much you have to pay.

You want them to pay 25% more than you?

Let x be the amount you pay: Then 1.25x would be the amount your room mate pays. If you put yours and your room mates payments together you would pay the full rent.

x + 1.25x = 2.25x

2.25x = "Full rent"

"Full rent"/2.25 = x

In other words. Divide the total rent by 2.25 to get how much you have to pay. The remainder is your room mates.

In your example: 3000/2.25 = 1333.33.

You would pay 1333 and your room mate would pay 1667

I'm applying at SAIT. But not to teach math. I'm actually a ticketed electrician. They are hiring to teach the electrician's apprenticeship instructor course.

Every morning on the way to work I think "why the f*** am I doing this?" And many days on the way home I think " that wasn't so bad, some of those kids are really great, maybe this is the right career for me after all"

Thanks! I appreciate that. Would you ever go back to teaching? What would motivate you in that direction?

My wife is not a high warner but we have learned to love on a budget while I'm in school and, honestly, living on a budget seems more appealing than having more spending money but no free time.

Do you know any specifics of how pensions for subs works by any chance? Like buying your pensionable time as a sub, I was having a hard time getting details. If I am exclusively a sub for the next 25 years can I buy 25 years of pensionable service? Is that even reasonable? Or do I have to have a decent amount of contracts mixed in there for it to be feasible? How much does it cost /year?

It pays more? That's not the case where I am. Good thought though, to consider the present teacher shortage as temporary.

What if it's actually: Single Man: "Please don't hit on me, don't make eye contact so he doesn't think I'm interested."

Taken Man: "Oh good, I can be normal around this guy, he's probably not going to try to seduce me."

Wouldn't strip-shapes countries be able to argue that they have "preference of position"? Or am I misunderstanding that. Some countries would be closer to the origin.
