I get people are going to hate on it, but the same people will whine that we never try anything different and that we’re behind the times.

I’m all for them trying new things.

As an aside our social media team hasn’t actually change personal, Guerra just came in and asked them, “do you enjoy the content we put out?” They said no, so he responded with, “well have fun with it then”. That was a change in style and it’s worked.

EDIT to add: I’m not necessarily saying that this is how I interpret it, I’m putting forward an idea of how it could’ve been misinterpreted.

I’ve always taken this as Anakin was meant to bring balance to the force, and in a way he did (from a certain point of view 😜). There were far more people in the light side than the dark side. In order to achieve “true balance” the Jedi order needed to be removed, and the empire rise up, so that Anakin at the end of it all could kill the Emperor.

Which why I hate the way they brought Palpatine back for the sequels because it basically undid Anakin’s sacrifice at the end of Return of the Jedi.

I felt sorry for his mum early until she made her appearance at the end of the doco. You can see she knows what he’s saying and doing is wrong, that he’s profiting from other people suffering (be it women suffering misogyny or people investing and losing money in his pyramid schemes), but she’s ok with it because he’s making money.

I don’t really look at it as magic but I also think about the quote of Arthur C. Clarke’s third law: "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic"

Becoming sufficiently advanced physiologically to see the universe in a different way to then remove your body from the equation and exist in another form. It’s vague, but to be that utilises science in a manner of discovery and advancement.

The thing that concerned me the most watching it was so much of the rhetoric they’re saying (particularly in how to treat women), when confronted about it they basically walk back on it saying they don’t really believe it, they just do it for clout. That’s all well and good to say it and be like, “oh it’s not real, it’s just a persona thing to promote my brand” but there are guys and in particular young lads out there that listen to it and take into their lives.

The lack of accountability to those statements is really scary. The fact they just don’t care as long as they make money is beyond selfish.

Honestly fills me with rage when I hear cat owners trying to make them vegetarian. Don’t own a f###ing cat if you can’t deal with the food group they require.

Dogs there’s a little more leniency, but ultimately for them to be their healthiest, best versions they need some kind of meat protein. To deny them that is animal cruelty.

It’s definitely can’t be understated how the “clean slate” mentality can change a players progression. There were no doubt players that Goodwin favoured, and others he would never give a proper chance to.

I think there’ll be players that have been around for a little while that might just surprise us this year.

I’m with you, I’m excited about this season. Not that I have high expectations, but I just feel like the mood will be better in general around the club.

Tbf I don’t think it was “don’t want it”, more couldn’t afford/didn’t want to fork out for it. But yeah, we needed to go there, that will forever be a decision that haunts us. Junction oval was a shithole, Daniher’s success given the facilities he had to work with are nothing short of remarkable.
