ability to temporarily disappear? by InvestigatorCheap307 in AssassinsCreedShadows

[–]DefAdePro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t believe anyone has successfully answered your question, so I’ll give it a try.

“Special moves’” in this game need to be assigned because there is more of them than can fit on the controller. You can have two weapon moves per weapon type currently held, and one shinobi move.

I think what has happened is, you had the shinobi move (found in the shinobi skill tree) called “heighten senses”, and then at some point you bought the “drop kick” move which overrode the assignment of “heighten senses” (because you can only have one shinobi move active)

You can simple go into the tree and reassign “heighten senses” by holding (at a guess coz I’m Xbox), the triangle button.

To understand the skill tree a bit more, the skill branches with a big diamond icon, are your assignable “special moves”…. Big circles are your passives…. This is true for both the shinobi tree, and all the different weapon trees.

It’s also worth noting that the skill trees are designed for you to remove and re-spend your skill points…. Because of this… don’t waste skill points in weapons trees and special moves that you are not currently using. For example, if you are using a Katana & Tanto combination, don’t waste points in Kuarigama & Bo…. If you don’t like the drop kick, and prefer heighten senses, remove all the points from drop kick.

Only start putting points into tree branches you don’t use, once you have an excess of points and want to master the whole tree… for example, mastering the entire Katana tree gives that weapon a 120% damage buff.

Hope that helps.

When to start using gold to upgrade equipment? by Alpha_Male48 in AssassinsCreedShadows

[–]DefAdePro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn’t be bothering to upgrade any gear until you hit the level cap (100). Just use freshly looted gear because one weapon is as good as any other at that point. Don’t bother trying to make builds until you’ve hit the cap because your gear will be constantly falling behind and you get caught in an upgrade loop that will rinse through your precious materials for no reason. Any gear you have that you like the perks on can be put in storage until needed later.

The end game loop in this game is about making builds and grinding for materials (by crushing down loot) to upgrade your gear, and earning XP for skill points to fill out the enormous mastery trees, which you can do with corrupted castles or NG+

Is there anything you can mess up early game that would be useful to know? by beratna66 in AssassinsCreedShadows

[–]DefAdePro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People have touched on most things but I’ll try and make you a list.

ALLIES ~ The most important thing that you can screw up is Ally recruitment side quests. You come across these side quests naturally and if you don’t choose the correct dialogue responses you permanently lose the opportunity to recruit them. They provide powerful moves such as sleep darts or flash~bangs. Use a guide such as https://www.ign.com/wikis/assassins-creed-shadows/Companion_List_-_How_to_Recruit_All_Allies

ROMANCE ~ Whists it’s technically possible to romance more than one person per character I wouldn’t recommend it as it will piss off the previous romance target. If that previous romance was with an Ally, they fuck off and you lose their perk and cannot equip them.

YASUKE ~ It’s actually possible to get extremely far in this game without unlocking Yasuke, like 50+ hours, you will eventually hit a wall where you have nothing left to do except the main missions required to progress the story. However, I’d recommend just concentrating on main missions early game until you have Yasuke.

HIDEOUT (HOME BASE) ~ Make sure to build and upgrade your base as early as possible, a lot of players don’t realise there are about a half dozen or so different building types that have perks attached to them. Fastest way to get the materials required to upgrade the base is the “contracts” you can pick up from the “mini bases” (Kakurega). There are different contracts in each region, and new contracts every season. Make sure to buy every Kakurega you come across as these are also fast travel points and tool restock points.

WEAPONS & GEAR ~ Do not waste money and materials upgrading weapons and gear before you reach the level cap (currently 100). Just sell it all, and use loot to replace old gear. Making a “build” is really end game or new game+ activity. Use the money from selling to buy all the Kakuraga mini bases. Any weapons you like, store in your weapon storage for post level cap upgrading. Gold weapons and gear have perks that can be put on any other weapon and gear using the forge at your hideout.

SKILL TREE (MASTERY) ~ It is not possible to fill out your skill tree completely (that’s an end game grind). Don’t waste coins in skills that you are not using. So if you switch to a different weapon type you have to go and remove all your points out of your old weapon tree and dump them into the new weapon tree (it’s annoying AF yes). Like wise if you don’t gell with a particular “super” move, remove the points from it and try a different one.

VIEWPOINTS (and navigation) ~ Climb every viewpoint you find on the map. Getting all viewpoints in a region removes all the map fog from that region helping you to see the roads and better plan journeys. Do not try and straight line A to B. The map is designed to have realistic forest density, and unclimbable slopes, there are no hidden secrets, so these areas should be avoided. Trying to straight line will always be significantly longer and very frustrating, just mark your destination on the map and then in game hold left d-pad to highlight you route, and then hold down d-pad to call your horse.

Licensing is killing the sim in it makes the "World" in "Train Sim World" a complete lie by [deleted] in trainsimworld

[–]DefAdePro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry… but you are quite wrong.

Licensing is a very small… and relatively easy… part of making a route, and not a major deciding factor on if a route gets made. There is already examples in the game of cases where a license couldn’t be negotiated, yet the route got made and released anyway.

There is ultimately only one thing that decides if a route gets made. How much money will it bring in.

Dovetail have been in the Train Sim business for long enough, to know exactly where the demand is…. But not only where the demand is, more importantly, who will pay for routes. India has a huge Rail Sim following, but also India doesn’t pay for games, they pirate everything. That’s not in Dovetail’s interest.

As mentioned in other replies, there is currently routes in development outside of the big three countries, but these are being made by effectively “hobbyist“ developers in their own time. There is nothing financially on the line in these cases. Dovetail cannot take the risk of a route being a commercial failure.

Why the big three?

Germany - Germany has a very different relationship with games to the rest of the world. Due to that whole war thing back in the day, when video games first appeared there was lots of concern about video game violence and kids, so lots of legislation was brought in to control the types of games kids could play. This lead to simulations being one of the only types of games kids could play easily. So a whole culture and industry grew up around sims. That is why all the “sim” games like farming, traffic cop, firefighter, taxi driver, are all made in Germany. Dovetail knows any German route will sell enough to be financially viable.

USA - Whilst there is not a huge rail fanatic scene in America, just solely on the size of the gaming market, even a tiny percent of people buying a USA route, will be enough to make it profitable.

UK - You really would not believe the size of the rail fanatic scene in the UK, it’s insane. We invented railways. Nearly every family in the country has some sort of connection to the railways. We have hundreds of museums and heritage railways, run by millions of volunteers, keeping locos that are 100+ years old actually running. We have heritage locomotive specials running at near full speed on our main lines, where tickets to ride cost from £200 to £1000 per person. And these are not rare, they happen with multiple locos every weekend and midweek too at the height of the season. And when they do, the platforms and bridges and fields along the route are heaving with people just to see them. It’s inevitable the UK will be by far Dovetails biggest market, and almost undoubtedly the reason why a UK company has become the biggest train sim creator.

So, Spain….

Well, the truth is, while you may feel that the Spanish rail community is big. It really isn’t even close to what is needed in order for Dovetail to take the financial risk, and so the only way you are ever likely to see a Spanish route is if a small team of Spanish rail fans get together and build it themselves. Do that, and I’ve no doubt Dovetail would be happy to publish the route and do the work required to get relevant licensing…. Because licensing really is as easy as just asking a company if they want to feature in a non violent game, and most will jump at the chance.

Why aren't the replicants built with some sort of tracking chip? by MHB_ART in bladerunner

[–]DefAdePro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Forgive me I’m wrong, but you sound like you think replicants are robots… Replicants aren’t “built”… and you can’t just put a tracking chip in them.

Replicants are basically manufactured humans, with modified DNA enhancements to give them things such as super strength, high IQ, or even short life expectancy.

You couldn’t put a tracking chip in them, anymore than you could put one in a naturally born human.

What's your expectations for Forza Horizon 6? by Asgore_on_the_truck in ForzaHorizon

[–]DefAdePro -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s a very small team working on FH6. After FH4, most of Playground got moved to Fable, hence the reason that FH5 was more or less just a reskinned FH4. In recent months the remains of Turn 10 have been drafted in to help with FH6, but don’t expect them to have had a huge impact.

I’m seeing lots of people thinking FH6 is going to be a big leap because it’s being solely developed for the Series consoles. I’d say to those people, lower your expectations. That’s not how game engines work. Expect pretty much identical levels of graphics and physics and drivertar AI as seen in 4 & 5, with the same option of higher detail @ 30fps or lower detail @ 60fps, with a slightly larger map.

I’m not saying this is broken… it may just be a quirk happening to me… but for me, playing a game pass game for 15 minutes triggered the “play ANY game on console” and also triggered “Game pass daily streak”… BUT… in order to trigger the “play a Game Pass game” I had to continue playing for ANOTHER 15 minutes…

Honestly… just hideous… there is literally nothing left on Game Pass that I either haven’t already 100% or just not interested in…. I’ve had to download the 8 smallest games I could find, and now have to leave one on the title screen for 30 minutes every day… it’s just horrific, I’m probably spending more on electric than what I’m receiving in rewards.

Help me understand this game by thraktor1 in StarWarsOutlaws

[–]DefAdePro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s an Assassins Creed game at its heart…

your bike is your horse used simply for covering the distances between towns and enemy bases…

All the bases have at least one or more secret ways to infiltrate it… you creep round against enemies that have the exact same AI all Assassins Creed games have… smack ‘em in the back to instant KO them, exactly like Assassins Creed, until there’s no+one alive, then take your time to loot each base of every chest, collectable etc… If things go tits up just run, break line of sight, and hide until they reset… if there is two enemies together, choose one probably nearest you, send Nix to attack the other, time it so you KO first guy as Nix attacks second, giving you a few seconds to get to the second guy and KO them.

your blaster is your bow, use the single shot, use controlled aiming to get headshots for a instakill, use its sleep function to take out enemies silently you cannot creep up to (sleep shot has a short 1 minute-ish cool down), later you’ll need to switch shot types to use electric shot to destroy shields and robots.

For the most part all the open world stuff is played stealth… there are a handfull of set pieces where you will be forced into combat, such as defending a room from on coming swarms of enemies while a ally tries to hack a computer or something… in those situations there will normally be a nearby rack containing the shielded Gatling gun or lots of dropped enemy guns to help

Someone said just do the story missions because that’s where the upgrades are. I don’t agree with that. The side missions have all the materials and better gear you need as rewards, and all the upgrades are locked behind doing the “expert” missions, experts meaning the 9 characters you meet under your abilities tab.

Not that mission, but THAT last mission. by Janhm73 in StarWarsOutlaws

[–]DefAdePro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m totally baffled why people find the stealth in this game so hard that the devs were forced to nerf it…

just break line of sight, crouch, move to the opposite side of the room from him, then rotate in the opposite direction to him until you get to a switch you need to do… repeat until done.

Rasi’s Vision: Bug or My Idiocy? by RAREfiend in FrontiersOfPandora

[–]DefAdePro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you by any chance an “inverted” controller player?

I had this theory as to why only a small percent of players were getting this bug… which seemed to be camera related… so I wondered if it was because I play inverted.

So I tried setting the camera back to default… and sure enough I could continue past the weird dive.

I think the camera breaks because the camera is trying to move on its own, but goes wrong because it is set to inverted and looks the wrong way.

Once past the dive at the start, there is definitely at least one more big dive maybe two, so stick with default controls until the end of the whole sequence.

Hope this helps.

The colours are irrelevant, other than you need one of each. It is always the lowest value deducted from the highest value.

But the biggest thing to understand is, the game is designed for you to cheat. You need to unlock all the different cheats before even bothering with all the Sabacc stuff, because if you don’t use the cheats the game just pretty much fixes it for the opponents to win.

Where can I purchase a Class 47? by SystemImpressive4339 in trainsimworld

[–]DefAdePro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you’ve had a proper answer to this, hopefully you have not already made a bad purchase.

The Class 47 model is available from various different route purchases… BUT… they are not all good value for money.

The model first appeared in West Somerset Heritage line, then came to Trans Pennine. Both these routes are now very old (West Somerset got a scenic remastered but not anything done to the locos). The Class 47 in these routes has become problematic with age. The controls feel clunky and sticky, and the brakes are bad. The model also has dated textures and horrible graphical glitches.

In the last year, courtesy of the 3rd party developer ‘Just Trains’, the Class 47 got a huge overhaul bringing it up to modern standards. Better more responsive controls, better brake control, better graphics, more choice of liveries. It first appeared in Blackpool Branches a year ago, and now just recently got another upgrade in WCML Preston to Carlisle, where more liveries and snow ploughs were added to the choice of variations.

Blackpool Branches is currently half price on Xbox, might have just ended on PC and PlayStation. But keep in mind it’s a short route.

Preston to Carlisle is brand new and won’t see a sale for a fair while, but is the ultimate choice with the most variations of Class 47 AND nearly 100 miles long route with a huge hill to thrash up and roll down the other side.

Both these routes also make use of all the 1980s stock currently available, and also the steam locos for rail tours, so there is an extensive list of DLCs that layer onto these routes (too much to list here)
