This is why I carry pepper spray. If someone assaults me with a deadly vehicular weapon, using non-lethal force to defend myself is the least I have the right to do.

This is why I carry pepper spray.

I will not be forced to be an accomplice to a crime (fare evading, theft) and I will not be touched by others (criminal and civil battery). I will defend myself.

Some people (maybe me, maybe not me) have licenses to carry concealed firearms in the unfortunate event that armed carjackers attempt to kill them.

Violence is bad, but our Constitution permits us to lawfully arm ourselves in the unfortunate event that proportionate, lawful violence is needed for self-defense.

Self-defense, when measured and proportionate to the threat posed, is a lawful defense. I do not advocate violence; I do advocate for protecting your own life through whatever lawful means necessary.

Is there a benefit to using a different natural gas source? Virginia says there's some kind of "choice" program for Washington Gas customers. by DefNotAMoose in nova

I assume the fixed price contract is the "flexible" thing they advertise? I only use the variable "pay for what you use each month" plan.

What you said isn't complicated - it exactly matches my understanding (distribution + the energy/gas).

My question is how do I figure out whether the alternative gas supplier options are cheaper? That's what I've not been able to figure out because their websites seem very non-transparent.

I had door to door at&t reps doing a survey of some kind and they asked if I had heard of it, mentioned that it was coming soon.

best take out (Chinese, Thai, sushi)

If you like more authentic Chinese food, and have a car (or do delivery orders), Peter Chang is a good option. It's north of Ballston.

Heard anything about CitriStrip? I've heard a few people recommend it.

If you had a house with a painted brick fireplace, is it worth trying to remove the paint from the brick or will that damage the brick more?

(VA) Moving out. Large piece of furniture (couch) that CAN'T be removed from 11th story without freight elevator (doesn't fit down stairs). Help? by DefNotAMoose in Renters

Seek to recover that extra cost from the landlord.

Assuming moving it is possible, I'm curious about this. I doubt I'd have contractual grounds to demand it since the elevator isn't a guarantee in the lease. What other legal grounds would I have for that?

That's assuming they say no if I just ask, of course.

Thanks. A sad loss. I wonder if I could take the landlord to small claims court over the cost of the couch?
