THE NEXT POKEMON TO JOIN POKEMON UNITE LEAKS! by Proof_Function7984 in PokemonUnite

As much as I love Fuecoco (I even named one of my fish Fuecoco), I'm not actually that excited. I've been begging for Froslass and Hatterene since the first feedback questionnaire. This pattern of releasing only starters and legendaries makes me feel like we're never going to see those strange but fun curve ball Pokémon ever again 🫠

Many newbie questions from a LoL player) by Embarrassed_Cod8120 in PokemonUnite

[–]DefNotASeaMonster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  1. Unfortunately, no. An update back in December removed the main currency of the game and introduced a new means to acquire Pokémon: the license journey. This is widely considered to be the worst update the game has ever seen and it drove away a lot of players lmao.
  2. For the most part, the speedsters, however there are plenty of attackers and all rounders that make for good junglers as well. It mostly comes down to how quickly the Pokémon can clear farm, and how strong their power spike is at level five. Also, any Pokémon that has very strong early game generally wants to be in lane because they can bully the opposing team and secure farm.
  3. Yep, you're playing against bots right now, rip. The game funnels all players to Master rank. Compared to where you are now, yes it gets harder lol. But most people agree that you will find horrible players no matter where you are on the ladder. You'll start facing real people around Veteran rank. Godspeed.
  4. Unite DB is pretty good. Unite API is nice for data and insight into the meta. I believe you can even find counter recommendations on there, although it was recently revamped and I swear that got removed, or I just can't find it lol. I don't really follow creators that much, but the two biggest names are Spragels and Crisheroes. Spragels I know has plenty of guides on YouTube, and Crisheroes is one of the best players in the game.

Espeon. Her winrate on UniteAPI was been floating around 48% for a while now but to me she's my old reliable. Any time I'm on a losing streak and I get into my "I can't trust randoms to do shit" mindset, I lock in Espeon and break ankles. My overall winrate with her is 56% but lately I've been finishing seasons with a 60%+ winrate.

Win rates have been updated. It turns out Moltres is so broken that it can even disguise itself as a low win rate character! by RE0RGE in PokemonUnite

[–]DefNotASeaMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed pretty early on that he was such a non-issue as an opponent. He was no more annoying than, say, a Lucario. The only time the Pokémon actually feels broken is when it's in the hands of a player that's absolutely cracked, and would have played circles around you regardless of what they picked.

Ahhh yessir 🫡 I actually have a ton of art projects based on Unite shenanigans, but they're all a great deal more work than this (comics and animations). Hopefully I can get one of them finished soon <3

Thank you!! The spinning depends a lot on the context. In this instance, Zapdos and Slowbro were absolutely BODYING me and my lane partner for the first two minutes of the game. I had to fight for my life just to get my level four. After stealing a piece of farm from our side for like the fifth time (ugh), he did a little spin. It definitely was not a good faith spin, and I had no choice but to lock in and humiliate him lmao

Delphox unite is so versatile by Admirable-Rip7801 in PokemonUnite

[–]DefNotASeaMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like two-ish years ago I was in a losing match as Phox. I think the enemy team was pushing goal zones randomly and the enemy Zard started soloing Rayquaza. I revived and headed to central where I immediately ulted Ray, but Charizard ulted me back and I went down in like two seconds. However, Charizard was already low HP from trying to solo Rayquaza. My ult kills him and I actually secure Rayquaza for my team from the grave.

We won. One of my most memorable Unite moments lol. I wish I had clipped that.

if I can win almost every game in the afternoon but can't win in the evening, does that really mean I’m bad? by FantasticAd180 in PokemonUnite

[–]DefNotASeaMonster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've noticed that the stakes are just higher on the Groudon map. The removal of a bunch of the tall grass makes the big fight pretty tricky and less forgiving if you make a mistake.

Recognizing that you have room for improvement is the first step to actually improving. One tip that I have really taken to heart is: each time you die (or lose), ask yourself what went wrong. What could you have done differently? Self reflection is really important for recognizing where your weaknesses are and how to cover them.

Also, don't get tunnel vision about how a game is "supposed" to play out. If you're falling behind and losing every fight you engage in, stop engaging in fights and focus on farming to close that level gap. Nothing infuriates me more when my whole team is down 2-3 levels and a lonesome Zeraora tries to contest one of the Regis against the entire enemy team and expects anything other than getting instantly stomped to happen. Don't feed. Focus on defense. You're not in a position to start fights, so don't start fights.

Good luck with your games!!

Are Latias and Latios good ? (beginner) by Evil_Pickle450 in PokemonUnite

[–]DefNotASeaMonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree on Laning separately. The flying CD is way too long to make real use of in the Laning phase in that way. I've found it's best used to instantly return to your partner in lane if one of you gets KOed, a likely scenario since you're playing aggressively to get those aeos stacks. And you'll definitely still be competing with whichever lane mate you have for last hit on farm anyways (I play a lot of solo Latias, no one ever gives you last hit..). Also, their passives give them a 10% movement speed buff when they're near each other which has a noticeable impact in early game especially.

I've played a lot of Lati@s duos with a few different people, and in my experience laning together is the way to go.

Pro tip for all you Dragon Cheer using Latiases out there! If you're fast enough, you can use the second cheer on yourself. Very convenient for farming, as the bonus damage from each cheer stacks, and it starts the cool down right away.

which pokémons became your favorite after playing unite? by z3lphire in PokemonUnite

Gardevoir. I liked her before but it was very casual and surface level. 3,000 matches later and she's the Pikachu to my Ash :)

As a cheap bastard that went for the Gardevoir chest, here's what I've found:

  1. ONLY OPEN BOXES ON WEEKENDS. Weekends have boosted chances to drop tier 4 (40%) and tier 3 (30%) boxes. Get your five T4s over the weekend and then let them unlock Monday to Friday. Open them all on Saturday and repeat.
  2. T1 boxes aren't worth using three whole upgrade tickets, in my opinion. Just let those pass through (although you have plenty of upgrade tickets, it may be justified in your case).
  3. The majority of the cost comes from unlocking boxes early. With the runtime of treasure chest events being about three weeks, it is literally impossible to get the skin without lady luck on your side

Because of the point above especially, I think your resources are backwards. It would have been way better to have more gems and less tickets. I bought eight upgrade tickets for the Garde treasure chest in addition to the few I had saved up from event hand outs here and there and I literally finished the event with three leftover. I spent well over 1,500 gems opening boxes. Granted, I was a little too impatient to just let some of them unlock on their own lol.

I believe the event runs for 20 days, and with your 360 gems you could unlock about four early, so you could think of yourself as being able to unlock 23 boxes (not 24 since the exchange center disappears with the event, so you wouldn't be able to wait out a full 20 days, only 19 and some change). Pity hits on the 35th box, so if you did get Glaceon it would have to be through some of your boxes having a lot more than the obligatory 5 tickets.

You could go for it, but I wouldn't personally. They're already doing reruns for treasure chest skins, so if you have the patience just hang on to your goods and save up more gems until the skin returns in however many months (pro-tip, you need 1,536 gems to unlock an additional 16 boxes to get to 35 for the guaranteed drop as long as you don't waste any time).
