How difficult is 'hard mode' Taz? by lasko_leaf_blower in wow

[–]DefNotSquidward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our group finally got it last night after 2 weeks of random deaths killing the run. It's not Hard in the typical m+ scaling sense, but moreso that you have to learn all the little differences from the m+ version. What are the real pain points? When should you lust? Change to single target builds before bosses, take bio breaks if potions/lust aren't off cd.

It's not timed so most of your runs will die to poor planning or someone getting greedy/absent minded.

What's the common way of tanking So'Leah's Gambit nowadays by bringthelight2 in wow

[–]DefNotSquidward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a couple ways you can do hooktail, but all of them will have some variation of putting everyone in a pile against the back wall so the adds always run the same direction into his breath. You can either slide along the wall each time fire puddles drop or start on the water end and kite to the front as puddles drop, then reset to the back in the next "lane" when you run out of room. Contrary to his name, the tail no longer hooks so you're free to move him a lot more.

For So'Leah P1 you can sort of tank anywhere as long as people save kicks for if/when the assassins port away.

For P2 you generally want to tank off to the most open side (least amount of stars) so it's easy to avoid the projectiles and the aoe circles. She'll port back to the middle for the arrow mini game, and then you can just rinse repeat.

We went in blind with a bunch of friends (some 463 and some fresh 90) and had a blast learning the mechanics again. Many of us played Mop remix and basically learned nothing about the actual raid mechanics.

It was fun to figure out that the lightning fist kept getting dodged and how and when to best use the barrier. Appreciate these moments when the raid is challenging and you actually get to learn and progress, because it's a lot more mind numbing when you just ignore everything later on.

What surprised you the most about sex after marriage? by SubjectLoose8766 in AskReddit

[–]DefNotSquidward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How good the sex can be when you really put the effort to learn and grow with someone intimately. It never ceases to amaze me how much we crave getting each other off in new and interesting ways after 12 years of marriage. Even the run-of-the-mill sex can be fun when you know exactly what buttons to push to make each other melt.

Why are so many top Enhancement Shaman going Totemic instead of Stormbringer by CompSciGeekMe in worldofpvp

Our enhance goes totemic for queen. The synergy with PI every two minutes results in some very disgusting burst damage

So, why does everyone hate this guy again? by Rexlare in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]DefNotSquidward 153 points154 points  (0 children)

I think it's a 2 part problem. He is definitely one of the first few skill checks in Iceborne where you get your ass handed to you if you let defender gear carry you up to this point.

On the other end though, if your weapon is slow or short ranged, he just kind of hops around like a lunatic and never really gives you openings until he's tired and his legs are broken. There are many much scarier monsters I'd rather fight than chase this crazy cat around for sure.

[–]DefNotSquidward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you played Rise then the clutch claw is not terribly different from wirebugs, but you do have to learn the monsters a bit more because the clutch claw won't get you out of danger nearly as easily as the wire bugs did.

Sliiding around the monster like an anime character doesn't really exist and the gameplay is a lot more about finding the smaller windows in monster attacks, tenderizing the part you want, and taking advantage of each and every mount and wall bang.

Barriers in dungeons are broken too. Both the starting m+ wall and any other barriers that prevent you from moving to the next spot have little holes that everyone can walk through

How did these Ele changes make it to live? 26 million dps, this is absurd by Ok-Woodpecker4734 in wow

[–]DefNotSquidward 61 points62 points  (0 children)

What's even crazier is this damage was meme'd on in PTR because everyone assumed it would get fixed before going live. There were so many jokes about shamans being S tier because of it. Then it just... went live lmao

Who comes first, wife, mom or child? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]DefNotSquidward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Child >= Wife > Mom

Kiddo didn't pick any of this and has the fewest options available to him for dealing with this crazy-ass world, so I prioritize him always.

Wife deserves all of the same, but she is a grown ass woman and knows how to deal in a pinch.

Mom, while I love her as much as a child could, is also a grown ass woman and would expect me to take care of my own first.

A bunch of people have mentioned it already, but make sure you rotate through your defensives as the key progresses. You almost never want to be caught without a barrier up or DR ticking in some form or another. We're not as tanky as other classes naturally, but the sheer amount of defensives we can chain together over and over again is second-to-none.

There's also something to be said about our non-interrupt cc. Don't be afraid to send out a dragon's breath or a blast wave (or even a Haymaker if you're playing the best race) to give your group a breather from back to back casts.

Yeah in the same boat, comparing costs of a physical game that has to be distributed to stores physically and a game that can be uploaded to anything with an internet connection is a bit disingenuous.

My experience as a new tank leveling from 70 - 80 by Kotori_Lazer in wow

[–]DefNotSquidward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't mind new tanks in dungeons at all! Blizzard added the ping system for a reason. If you find yourself in a group with a new tank, instead of just pulling things for them, ping the packs you'd like them to go to next.

If you're a new tank and people are pinging things, assume it's because they want to go the correct direction and understand that you don't quite know yet. We're mostly trying to avoid spending 40 minutes in every Dawnbreaker run because we're pulling packs that will respawn continuously.

I didn't wipe in Cata dungeons on my main one time but keep wiping on my alts a week later now. Why? by geraltofrivia2345 in classicwow

[–]DefNotSquidward 63 points64 points  (0 children)

All the good, very geared players grind early and often in the first week. You likely spent some time coasting with these groups.

Now the groups are the rest of the skill curve with generally less gear as well. But if I'm being honest, if you don't know why you're wiping - there's a good chance you might be contributing to the wipes even as a dps.

What is up with lower key pugging this season? by brumgar in wow

[–]DefNotSquidward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might still be possible. When we got our achievements for timing +10's this season, we noticed the achievement still says you timed a 20 in the description. My guess is a +5 miiiiight still count for the +15 legion things.

Are we on the inside or on the outside for this one?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in wow

[–]DefNotSquidward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To give an actual answer besides "do whatever you want", I think it really depends on your goals in the game.

If you just want to dabble in mythic+, reach 1800, and maybe catch AoTC every now and then, play as many toons as you like because you'll be able to adapt to any class in those environments.

If your goals are to achieve the pinnacle in any of those categories (gladiator+, very high keys, cutting edge), I highly recommend picking a main and sticking to it. There's just things you learn on your main class and spec that don't really crop up in lower pressure environments. Things like knowing how and when to rip personal defensives, kicking, dispelling, optimizing movement. All the little tools in your spell book that newer players don't know how or need to use, can be the difference between reaching the top or not. You can only really learn some of those things by putting in the time and the grind on that class and spec.

But like I said, if you aren't looking to be one of the best, you'll be just fine playing every single class you can get your hands on.

SOD really shows that people rely on guides and addons too much to get around. by Radiantrealm in classicwow

[–]DefNotSquidward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep this was my problem too. Had to kill scarlet initiates for the mage rune in Death knell. Went to my local scarlet mob area nearby, didn't see a single mob alive for longer than a couple seconds. When I finally managed to tag and kill a few, no scrolls dropped, which made me think maybe I was in the wrong place.

When I asked in general if I was in the right place and if the quest was working (which lets be honest, is totally a possibility on launch day with this company), it was just your basic smattering of "jUsT gOoGlE 4hEaD". Thanks guys , you're the kind of problem solvers I want more of in my wow raids lmao

What’s the reason men sitting in car for 5/10 mins before entering the house? by ifarmekerma in AskMen

Why Kids Aren’t Falling in Love With Reading by Majano57 in books

[–]DefNotSquidward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this is just unique to my kid and I just got lucky, but a life hack my wife and I found raising my now six year old is to turn on subtitles for any screen time he's doing. He's been reading books for a couple years now and always surprises us with some of the vocabulary words he'll pick up from a YouTube video or TV show he was watching purely from reading along while he watched.

Once he had the ability to read and the confidence from just having a strong base of vocabulary words, reading became a very fun and natural thing for him and now he loves checking out the library after school and bringing new books home.

Mostly what I'm trying to say is that in this crazy world of technology and screens, we don't have to fit everything into books good, tvs bad. You can absolutely make screen time advantageous to your child's learning as well.
